1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Clothesline Beach Bag!! (IMG heavy) on: January 14, 2010 01:14:18 PM
I first saw this method from the book "It's A Wrap" (http://www.amazon.com/Its-Wrap-Sewing-Fabric-Baskets/dp/156477662X).  So addicting.

I took the bowl/bag idea a step further to create a huge beach bag (probably a little too big, but I just couldn't stop).  I was able to bring it on the plane as a carry on and put it under the seat in front of me.

Turned out a little more 'watermelony' looking that I had hoped, but it's summery!!!

I wish I had pictures as i was doing it, when I got to the end of sewing it, my head was inside the bag just to hold it up....actually pretty challenging.

a little misshapen from storage...

Enjoy Smiley

3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Creative ways to incorporate patches? on: January 13, 2010 09:39:28 PM
So..posted this in a different area but realized that it probably makes more sense here (sorry!)

My grandfather passed away a month ago and in going through his things we found a box of patches (TONS) from various awards he has won throughout the years.

As a sort of remembrance for the family I wanted to make a quilt or something incorporating the patches in a crafty way but have not come up with any ideas yet

So just asking (OK -- borderline begging...) if anyone can think of anything creative I can do, possibly even something other than a quilt; the quilt just came to mind first.  Any help you can give is greatly appreciated!!!   Cheesy

I cannot wait to show my mom this....she is continually trying to convince me to throw out the boxes and boxes of magazines I have saved throughout the years...only to find out that I'm not alone in the magazine hoarding business!!!!! Woo hoo! Smiley

After breaking my leg I slowly started going through mine and pulling out the articles I wanted to keep and organized them into a binder...well 4 binders later and a healed leg (aka no more sitting in bed/no attention span!) i need to come up with something new...

love the idea of making envelopes...
did the magnet thing (my friends all make fun of how many I have, yet they all seem to want a set.....haha)
mod podge everything....
love making magazine beads...
still attempting to successfully make a magazine bowl!

i love, love, love that there are others out there like me...  Grin

10  CLOTHING / Shoes: Completed Projects / Re: Upcycled sweater boots (w/mini tutorial!) on: January 09, 2010 08:52:29 PM
WOW!!!!!! I really thought these were store bought.  Amazing job...they look really well made too.  One question, how does the hot glue hold up after some time?

Definitely digging through old sweaters tomorrow and attempting to make a pair.

Thanks for the tutorial  Cool
