1  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Completed Projects / Re: Fiber Friday 8-1-08..!! on: August 01, 2008 11:44:28 AM
All of the yarns look amazing this week  Cheesy.

I tried my hand at my first art yarn. I plied a finn single with transparent thread strung with sequins. You can only see one sequin in the photo for some odd reason, but trust me there are tons!

Everyone's yarn looks wonderful  Cheesy.

Mint Toffee Chip - This one was technically from last week, but I didn't get it posted. It's green merino with chocolate and toffee bamboo.

Mardi Gras - Spun from a Mardi Gras batt by TerraBellaSpun

Here Fishy Fishy - I'm currently working on finishing this one. It's my first attempt at plying with thread, and I'm throwing in some sequins. For some reason you can only see one sequin in that photo, but there are many more haha. It's spun from roving by Muzzlepuffs on Etsy.

All of the yarns posted so far are lovely! I can't choose a favorite. I completed two yarns this week Cheesy.

Girlish Woodlands - spun from a set of batts purchased from YarnByAshleyB on Etsy.

Sunny Skies - spun from just a portion of an Ugly Batt.

After winding the spun yarn onto the spindle, I usually wrap the spinning fiber tightly around the hook several times. I've never had a problem with unspinning:).
6  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / Newbie Question...Help! on: July 09, 2008 07:32:31 PM
I finished spinning a single, and there was one part (about an inch or two) that was accidentally thicker than the rest. After I set the twist I gave that part a little tug, and it started to separate a little. The rest of the yarn is fine, but is there any way to fix that one spot to prevent it from possibly separating?

The scarf is adorable!

Everyone's yarn is looking fabulous!

Yay! It's my first Fiber Friday post. I attempted plying for the first time with just part of an Ugly Batt. They're thick, thin, and and have lots of texture, but I don't think it's too bad for a first try.

This is Monet. The picture was taken while it was still on my kick spindle after I finished it this morning. It's about 100ish yards.

...and this is Monet Jr. It's about 43 yards.

Everyone's yarn looks great. It's all so pretty! I must say, Rocky Road is a bundle of awesomeness  Cheesy.
