1  ~Zombie Secretary~ in Halloween Costumes by crafty_pixi on: November 06, 2010 08:48:17 PM
I had a lot of fun being a zombie (a HUGE obsession of mine) this Halloween and just wanted to share it with you guys as I have SO enjoyed checking out all of your awesome costume pics.

I had a great time doing the make-up for this. Can't wait to get even more gory next year.

Here's my really quickly thrown together costume. I had to work til almost 10pm that night. I would have liked to have blood down my arms but oh well.
(this was before my face was done up)

Yay my pc works today! lol

Here is the fun way I made the lil cupcake on top of my headband:
I needed some fluff to put in my real mini cupcake foil but was all out so...I used something I had onhand. (It's brand new fresh outta the wrapper)

I put a bit of water on it to puff it up more and then poked a hole in the end and pulled pull string through to make a poof.

Then I glued it into the foil and glued pink fabric on top of it.

For sprinkles, I used a bit of aquarium gravel I had.

Lastly, I found some cupcake DOG toys which were perfect for a light weight cupcake platter, easy to carry around all night. I used some cake plates, glued together with sparkly foam glued to the center and then hot-glued an elastic strap underneath for ever easier transport. I glued the squeek toys to it and voila.

Then it was off for a night of drinks and fun and cupcakes!

  ~Thanks for looking   Kiss

3  ~ CUPCAKE MAVEN ~ in Halloween Costumes by crafty_pixi on: November 04, 2009 09:04:13 PM
First off I'd just like to say that everyone did a wonderful job on their costumes this year and I'm really excited to be posting my first costume on Craftster tonight.

I am cupcake obsessed and so my costume this year is a Cupcake Maven in honor of my favorite cutesy treats. Please keep in mind that this entire thing came together in the two and a half days leading up to and including Halloween.

Miss Pixi, the Cupcake Maven:

Here is almost the whole costume:

Here is the 30 minute apron that I didn't have time to measure out and just eye-balled about halfway done in this pic.

This is a lingerie top I had lying around. I added some cupcake flourishes.

A close-up

I re-purposed an old necklace by attatching a felt cupcake I made to it.

The back

I have more to post but want to get this up first in case my pc freezes again.

4  ~GIANT cupcake army...cake~ in Dessert by crafty_pixi on: August 08, 2008 06:11:02 PM
       Hi there!
I made this hunk of gooey goodness for my hubby's 25th b-day as well as a friend of mines' b-day.
I was SUPER stoked to find this huge Wilton cupcake pan at my local craft store and can't seem to make a cupcake with out a bit of whimsy in it's theme. To make an already too long story short-er, my hubby has adored army-themed things since his childhood especially army helicopters and my friend who we were celebrating as well, is looking to become a police officer, so I smooshed those ideas together into an cake that kind of looks like it's the end of the world hehe

The cake was simple enough, I used two different boxed cake mixes, Chocolate for the bottom and white cake generously spiked w/ butterscotch schnapps for the top. {word to the wise, if you add booze to your box cake mix, pour a bit lees of it into your pan than you usually would or it will overflow ALL over your oven and darn near cause a fire  Undecided } I attached the two cake pieces with double fudge frosting which you can see got a bit messy. The gold is just some gold luster dust I used to dress up the base.

Here's an 'aerial' view of the finished cake, I used a few different frostings, one flavored w/ rootbeer candy flavoring {just a couple drops!} and tinted, what came out teal-ish but was s'posed to be dark green, then there's a tan vanilla frosting, a reg old chocolate frosting and then a brighter green vanilla. Since I was playing on a whimsy theme, I thought it'd be fun to use army & police men that the guys probably would have played with when they were kids. The 'boulders' are just mini marshmellows tossed in coco powder   Smiley

Close up

The 'blood' is sparkly writing gel

Lit up! {everbody sing hehe}

And finally cut in half

Hope you guys enjoyed comments appreciated and hoped for

5  Some of my cupcake creations (new here) {pics} in Dessert by crafty_pixi on: May 15, 2008 12:10:22 PM
First off I'd like to say that this is the site dreams are made of! Aside from the amazing variety of craft ideas and wonderful layout, you all seem so friendly and appreciative of eachother's posts.
One of my favorite things are cupcakes, EVERYthing having to do with cupcakes is wonderful to me *giggle* so here is my first real post I'd like to share some I made with you.

I made these last Valentine's Day after being sent home from work on account of a bad snow storm. My hubby LOVED them and my coworkers got to enjoy them the next day.

These were devil's food chocolate cake mix with strawberry frosting.

These were made with a yellow cake mix spiked with Disarrono (amaretto liquor) and frosted with amaretto buttercream and chocolate fudge frostings.

These were made with french vanilla cake mix tinted bright pink and frosted with a vanilla frosting that I added pralines and cream flavoring to as well as lavender gel coloring to. I made the white chocolate funky heart on top by melting white chocolate candy making wafers and then with a spoon, drizzling it onto a piece of wax paper which I stuck in the freezer for a minute to harden.

They were delicious and a lot of fun to make. They killed a few good long hours of my day because I made other batches and tried different things.

I'll save some of those pics for later tho, I don't want to post too many images as I'm still learning the rules here Smiley
