- little oak leaf and frames with birds in are also beautiful..

i could go on, but i will let the photos peak for me!

4  My winter ball dress... in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by poppyache on: December 02, 2009 04:40:12 PM

So i havent posted for a while, but im particularly proud of this!

We have a winter ball in our med school, and is a very lovely event. I really wanted to look nice, but couldnt face the long trawl of dress shopping and the expense! I have never gone for a floor length dress before, and always thought they were a bit frumpy, so i glammed mine up a bit!

I made it up as i went along, its made from a beautiful soft chiffon that my mum bought me.

me and my friends (im in the dark green)

a side view of the cut

THE BACK! my favourite bit! The glass studs are vintage that i found at a flea market.

im afraid i am a very sloppy sewer and would hate you to see the inside, but i was pleased with how it came out.

It only malfunctioned towards the end of the night... i ended up with quite a bit of bra on show, but never mind!!

comments appriciated,

9  a very thrifty tea party! in Party Planning by poppyache on: May 14, 2009 07:12:12 AM
So one of my best friends birthdays comes round...

so we have to celebrate! but we have a tiny budget, here are our results..

First of all we decided everyone (except the birthday girl- it was a surprise!!) woudl bring soem baking. we ended up with...
scones, strawberries and cream
jam tarts
banana bread
cup cakes
short bread
raspberry and chocolate cookies

sorry, they got eaten before i could take photos! scruffy but delicious

gifts and decor were on a strictly crafty basis-
stuffed makka pakka, he has wheat inside him so he can get warmed up in the microwave!

we didnt have enough paper for 'birthday' so wills banner had to say "happy anna day"

we got crockery and tea pots from chairty shopd and a junk yard, and got lots of little flowers and branches of blossum, all in a very random assortment of vases!

newspaper bunting! Anna liked this so much she took it home to put in her bedroom!

lots of homemade cards.

Our friend laura made an incredible braille book, with a story about a robot and even little pictures made up of the braille dots.

hope you like everything and maybe got some ideas for your own party-on-a-budget!

josie xx

I received on monday! Unfortunatly, i messed up and asked Cosmo_mouse to send to my home address rather than my univeristy one. My little sister took lots of photos for me, but she didnt really grasp the whole scavenger hunt idea, so im afraid i wont be able to put a list up until she brings the package down to me next weekend..

but in the mean time, photos!!

all the loot

scrabble letters! that my darling sister so kindly re arranged..

some amazing stamps and cool coins

how cute are these!?

and finally, my absolute favourite

Thankyou so much! I cant wait to see everything in the flesh. Its going to be so nice to have lts of new stash for christmas crafting time!

this was a really fun swap, thanks everyone
