45  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: edamame? on: May 24, 2008 11:48:13 AM
I've never actually prepared edamame at home, but it really looks easy enough. The first time I had it was at a japanese restaurant. I tried to eat the whole pod...they laughed at me! So I quickly learned you just use your teeth to pop the seeds out into your mouth.

I've only ever had it steamed and salted. If you have any japanese restaurants around where you live, you may want to stop in and see if they have it! You can try it out. I don't know how to explain the flavor, but it's good. It's not a bold or strong flavor at all. Just...a bean thing with salt on it. I like edamame.
46  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Barbeque Menus? on: May 24, 2008 11:42:11 AM
We plan on making a meal I saw on the Food Network the other day:

Margarita Grilled Chicken Sandwiches: http://www.foodnetwork.com/food/recipes/recipe/0,1977,FOOD_9936_37345,00.html

Pepper Stuffed with Chorizo, Shrimp, and Rice

We're gonna leave out the spicy ingredients though, cause we're wimpy. So no jalapenos and we're using red peppers instead of poblanos for the stuffed pepper recipe. I hope it ends up tasting alright!! I'll be sad if I'm left craving a good ole' BBQ cheeseburger.
47  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Any tips on making traditional Japanese Ramen? on: May 24, 2008 09:10:07 AM
I would be interested in this as well... I especially love sukiyaki but would be interested in how to properly flavor the broth for traditional ramen, udon, or sukiyaki. So if anyone has any tips, please do share with us!!! ^_^
