1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / some covered boxes on: August 18, 2009 02:52:46 AM
still wet and stacked to dry... have lots of boxes. have a problem getting rid of the boxes. they are also some seriously ugly boxes. so... tada. pleasing to me boxes Cheesy:D:D

2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / destroybracelet+beads=bracelet that fits+earrings on: December 10, 2008 10:23:24 PM
my wrists are kinda dinky so bracelets are usually too big.. the upshot of that is i can dismantle bracelets toss on a few more beads and get a bracelet and pair of earrings out of it... so.. uhm yeah. that's what i did.

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / one sheet, my laundry closet and avoiding finals. on: December 08, 2008 04:32:22 PM
I inherited all of my mom's fabric which was super heavy on the florals, pastels and lace bits and bobs.. i gave her such a bad time about it and now i'm in withdrawal, i don't want to study for finals, and this is what i alternated polisci and business law with-

why does a skirt go under Home- complete projects? because it's the skirt to wear while doing laundry at the laundry closet-

i can empty the pockets into the matching catch all bin, iron it on either of the matching ironing boards, and after i wash it i can dry it and snag clothes pins out of the matching bags hanging in the laundry closet

i can leave handy little notes up with my rose magnets, and i have a curtain hiding the ecologically unsafe bleach i just accidentally admitted to owning.

ok, i know it really is all in all pretty dorky. but wow one sheet went a long ways. i have done very very very few crafting projects in the last half decade and it's really nice to just not care if it's dorky, or bad, and just do it and make something and toss it later if it sucks.. if that makes any sense..? i really enjoyed myself. not my taste, my style or well done.. but gosh golly i had -fun-

i also made sure no bit of ribbon went lonely without beads. lol. it really was just dorky fun..
4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / pink and blue and ribbons letter holder on: December 08, 2008 06:21:30 AM
I needed to make something bright, froofy and cheerful last night.. couldn't sleep. required cheer. this was it. it's going on the side of the hutch over my computer desk:}

5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / craptacular bird cage to craftacular desk organiser? on: December 06, 2008 05:03:13 AM
this bird cage had hugely sentimental value to me but it was rusted, a mess, and just bleh. so uhm some wire cutters, spray paint, acrylic paint, scrapbooking paper, ribbon...
and crammed it with some more sentimental stuff- the pencil sharpener and tape dispenser from my great grandfather's desk... notecards and my blown glass pen and ink to try and prod myself into getting better about writing peoples notes. so.. these are a few of my favourite things :}
**edited to add- i saw something like this in a magazine, it might have been junk market style but i just can't for the life of me remember anymore or when or where or anything other than seeing a pic of someone doing something like this to a bird cage***

the before

partway through

parter way through

ok. back to grubbing out this scary craft room again goes me. but i needed a break from cleaning up in here and studying for finals...
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / less crafty more mossy on: December 04, 2008 12:43:29 PM
i keep griping that it's finals week.. i study and then i play. study play study play study play. when i went out for a walk to get a mocha and some air and decompress my brain there were so many pretty little mosses around outside so this is what i had when i got home.. she keeps me company at the table while i study now Cheesy

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / not too crafty but organised- ribbons & binding erm & rickrack now too on: December 04, 2008 02:01:21 AM
ermm i started this post because i was just glad i went through my ribbon.. it's turned into a picture obese monstrosity of me trying to encourage myself to get through allllll the boxes of sewing bits and bobs. Not very exciting craftycreation wise but it is motivating me to finish going through all six gazillion boxes so I hope people will excuse me:}
I am really working at getting my crafting area organised, tidy, and hopefully cute as well. not super crafty but hallelujah I organised my ribbons!
cut out cardboard rectangles to wrap longer pieces of unspooled ribbon on. put anything ~2 feet and under on a safety pin and clipped that to an O ring. set out a jar for the tiny scraps I might want to use for scrapbooking or anything else. so, 3 hours and a movie later I've got organised ribbons I can find and use.

rickrack joy. it's come to my attention with this exercise that i'm woefully lacking in rickrack. what the heck?

and elastic! huzzah. box by box it's going from impenetrable tangle to accessible and usable!

snaps, hooks & things that clip.

it really is a good feeling to get a handle on the craptacular mess i've been living in for awhile...
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / it's almost a crafty space now! on: November 30, 2008 04:27:18 AM
i've spent the last few days turning a pit of a room i could barely walk through the doorway of into a craftroom..
this is the finished projects and this isn't really finished but i kind of needed to post i guess because it's been alot of work and i need to call it at least good enough for a little bit. that being said, i'm really excited about having a space where all this stuff is out and accessible and i can make things. that is a very good feeling so.....

here's the space where i can make stuff. Smiley

fabric stash and sewing machine hiding away from table

more crafty supplies storage, a fair amount of scrapbooking supplies

crafty closet with the doors shut

desk for studying and geeking out.. and there's a tub underneath that has all my beading supplies.. i haven't touched those to organise them yet. oops.

but that's it so far.. i haven't finished but that's it so far.. it's been a lot of work and i am really tired from it.. Smiley looking forward to a good hard nap and then making some stuff. thanks for lookin through the photo obese post to anyone who survived with bandwidth in tact after all that!

9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / i'm not a jewelry person but these were too pretty on: November 26, 2008 02:05:55 AM

i was walking by with my bolts of fabric and saw the blue beads and loved them... had to make a necklace and pair of earrings that matched my sewing nook. this is frighteningly addictive though.
