21  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: was a ???, now a cool bar VERY PIC HEAVY on: May 18, 2008 08:08:32 AM
That is a good idea.  I don't think contact paper would work very well as far as being able to remove them but a sheet of hard plastic or plexi-glass or something is a great idea.  Thanks!

crushed gluten free cookies.  I think that was actually the most annoying part of the whole thing, as they didn't really want to crush easily.

That is awesome for a first try at fondant.  I use fondant all the time for sculpting, but have yet to try covering an entire cake in it. I have heard that it is quite difficult.

26  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Shawl to skirt on: May 17, 2008 07:18:27 PM
First clothing I've ever reconned or made- first real sewing project actually.....so it's pretty rough.  I don't have a before pick, but the striped fabric was a poncho/shawl thing and the polka dots was fabric I had from the $1 sales at walmart.

There have been many arguments over what this thing was originally intended to be- I thought it was a kitchen hutch, and used it as such in my last place.  My mom thought it was part of a computer desk, and a friend thought it was a headboard.  When we moved (to a place with a lot of kitchen cupboards and a garage for "adult space"), my husband decided it is now a bar.  I agreed.  Here are before pics:

A few coats of mod podge and 1 tarot deck later (a deck he had lost a couple cards out of and replaced a couple times- he usually never loses tarot cards- it's just something about this one deck)

and the right side

I'm not completely done.......I'd like to print out recipes for various drinks in a cool font and mod podge them to the top- my husband is not so sure about this.  I am also going to make lighter cozys with velcro attached and put velcro on the sides of the bar to hold them.  What do you think?  Any other ideas?
