21  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / First knitted garment! on: November 20, 2009 02:21:07 PM
This is my first whack at a knitted garment. I figured I try something small. So, I knit up this cute and simple baby kimono style jacket from a Mason Dixon pattenr. I sewed on some lace trim and added some snap closures. Not too bad for a first try Smiley

22  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Simple but sweet Baby Sleep Sack on: November 20, 2009 02:17:56 PM
I'm having my third baby in less than two weeks. So, I've been in a last minute crafting frenzy. Here's one of the projects I just finished. I forgot where I got the pattern from. But, it knit up quickly and easily Smiley
23  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Canning help on: November 13, 2009 10:05:57 AM
I want to start canning but really don't know where to start. I've looked online and there is so much different information. Its all a bit off putting. If anyone could suggest a good book or online resource or anything really, it would be great! Smiley
24  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Zazz-ified!!! on: October 10, 2009 05:47:50 PM
So, I was all glum today because our apartment is soooo bland looking and we've been living in it for months. I decided to put my money where my mouth is and DO something about it!! Aha!! A lamp! This is my first project of this kind and I ran out of grosgrain ribbon, but you get the idea. Forgot to take before pictures. It was plain cream colored lampshade. c&c welcome

25  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help!!! Backward loop cast on, anyone? on: September 27, 2009 12:31:13 PM
I'm trying to knit up a one piece baby kimono and it calls for a "thumb" or "backward loop" cast on. I have no idea what either are. Can anybody help?
26  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Trying to go green. HELP!! on: September 10, 2009 05:28:18 PM
I'm trying to go green, a little bit at a time. So, I've been looking for an easy (I'm still a relative n00b when it comes to knitting) knitting pattern for a market/grocery bag. Any suggestions?
27  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Hawaiian themed pillowcase on: August 28, 2009 07:02:30 PM
I made this pillow for my DH's birthday. He's away from home a lot and I wanted to make him something to remind him of me and home Smiley <3
Please excuse the wrinkles and cruddy pic quality. I have a prehistoric aged digital camera.
28  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Hawaiian/nautical goodness :) on: August 03, 2009 04:26:55 PM
This is one of the first purses I've ever made. It's more of a tote. I use it to store all my embroidery stuff. There's one big pocket in front and another. REALLY simple design. I'm not much good at sewing Smiley

Thanks for looking Smiley
29  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Monsters and zombies!!! :) on: August 03, 2009 04:22:01 PM
I did a couple tank tops for my husband's birthday. We're both big horror fans. So, I did one monster themed and the other zombie themed Smiley This was my first time embroidering on such stretchy material. I used t-shirt stabilizer and some transfer paper on the black one.
I embroidered the front bottom corners

And I also did some bats between the shoulder blades

And for the other tank I just did a back design.

Thanks for looking Smiley
30  California / California: South / Any High Desert Crafters out there? on: July 16, 2009 10:32:50 PM
Just moved to the High Desert (more specifically, Barstow) from Pasadena few months ago. I don't really know anyone. I love knitting, embroidering, sewing, and basically anything crafty. It would be great to meet any fellow crafters or crafting groups Smiley
