31  Re: Friends of Craftster Raffle Swap R8 FOCR R8 Secret Garden Gallery in The Swap Gallery by spotnik on: April 09, 2010 09:11:22 AM
I've received the bunny pillow and soaps from icebyrd67.

Bunny's name is now Marie Bunnykins.  Here she is with Babo and Harvey the Platypus (the 2 other stuffies that live in my bed).  She's very happy with her new friends, although I am pretty sure Harvey has a crush on her.   Wink  (Harvey was a gift from the Love of Stuffies swap.)

I cannot take pics of the soap, since I am already using one bar and my sister mooched the other last night.  She was so excited about the scent that I couldn't resist giving her one.

Thanks again icebyrd67 - you ROCK!

I received today from thenutmeg2000!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

I am so thrilled with everything - check this out!

Everything together:

Horde Banner:

"Handspun Mammoth Wool from the Howling Fjord.  Spun by Northrend's famous own tailor, Cyperus.  No finer wools can be had in all of Azeroth.  There is nothing we could do to remove the Mammoth Stink involved and not responsible for animal attacks wearing it."  (The softest yarn - it is wonderful!)

"Held in off hand to increase intel and stam in all projects made by crafters.  Crochet-type tailors benefit from this class of off hands.  Regular use promotes correct number of stitches and rounds."  (AKA stitch markers  Cheesy)

"Enchanted Mageweave Bag containing a few treats from Dalaran's finest shops.  From One More Glass in Dalaran, four of the finest beverages to soothe the huntress after a long night of raids.  And from next door to the bar, the Barber Shop  some homemade soap to clean up all the blood from our enemy and that core hound breath."  (The soap smells soooo good.  The bag is velvet and is so pretty.)

And speaking of core hound breath -
"One miniature core hound that binds on account.  May only have one per account due to fierce nature.  Must be cared for and no refunds on pooper scoopers due to hand stink."

He's felted and matches my in-game core hound combat pet.  (There is a definite benefit to being a Beast Master hunter.  Cool pets!)  I am SO stoked.

Thank you so very much thenutmeg (aka Cyperus  Wink )!!!!!!!!!!!!   You ROCK!

33  Re: Friends of Craftster Raffle Swap R8 FOCR R8 (Signups CLOSED Sendout 4/10) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by spotnik on: March 19, 2010 04:13:27 PM
Bunny pillow!!!!!!!!!!!  Squeeeee!

Ok, so I am all done, and here are the pics of my offering.   Grin

A leather journal and coordinating bookmark with Spring flowers and vines.  I am really pleased with the way this came out.  I am learning about leather working, and painted all of the tooled parts with a special acrylic-type paint for leather.  The inside is kind of rough, since my lessons have not gotten as far as finishing the rough side of the leather, but at least you know it's genuine, right?   Cheesy  The attached ribbon page marker for the journal is tied to a vintage key.

Ok, I will shut up now.   Grin  Just really excited about my new skill.

February's blanket:

Baby size, turquoise yarn, textured shell-type stitch & fringe.  I hope you can see the texture - I wasn't able to get a good picture.

I am actually ridiculously pleased with the way this one came out.   Grin

35  Re: Ongoing ATC Swap - February in The Swap Gallery by spotnik on: March 04, 2010 08:09:27 PM
I received today from Krafty_karasu and yell0wbright!

They both did a fantastic job and I cannot wait to put them up on my special ATC display board!

So, here is the one from KK, for my Japan theme.  I don't know if you can tell in the picture, but some of the paper is sparkly and some is reflective.  Seriously adorable!

And from yell0wbright.  She chose my letter S theme and also worked in my love of illuminated manuscripts.  The letter is drawn in gold paint, and it says Spotnik down the side in letters that look like those old-style label makers (I think I just dated myself.   Grin )

Thank you both so very much.  I absolutely love my cards and admire your artistic talent!!

I received from Pamelabd!!

Check out the goods!

So cute and cuddly soft and warm, amazing cables and a cute flower!!!

This scarf is seriously amazing.  Pamela tells me that the pattern is her own creation (!!) and it is gorgeous!  Cables through the middle, with bobbles along each edge.  Sorry about the photo quality, I just could not find a way to photograph this and get clear shots of the pattern.

Um...action shot.  (Eeep.  Just ignore the messy hair, etc.  Just got in from running errands)

Totally awesome extras!

A business card holder and tea wallet.  With lots of tea!!  The stitching on these is beautiful.

Pamela, whatever yarn you used is absolutely amazing - it is SO soft and cuddly.  I absolutely love everything you made.  Thank you so very much!

January Blanket is done.  Yes, it is in spring-like colors, but I am working through my stash and that is the one that came to hand first.   Cheesy  Size is 36" x 26" - a little smaller than regulation, but will hopefully be ok.

Simple double crochets all the way, finished with a shell border.  Smiley

c/c much appreciated.

I received two more packages today!!!!!!  I have an embarrassment of riches!

First, from playswithneedles:

A tea wallet from my wists and some cotton yarn and some suncatcher eyes!!!!!!!!!!!  I've wanted to get some of these eyes for SO long!

The tea wallet is gorgeous (LOVE the colors!) and already filled with Tazo tea - my favorite, even if it is owned by Starbucks.  Wink

Next, from Casey1201:

Several shopping/project bags made from t-shirts, which I totally have been wishing for - I love repurposed/reused t-shirts.  I've already put one of my small crochet projects in the maroon bag.  Cheesy

Handmade soap in perfect scents - honey oat and brown sugar & vanilla.  Mmmm.

And an adorable resin pendant with a dress form.

Casey also sent some yummy fudge and cookies, with which my husband quickly absconded.   Cheesy

Thank you both so very very much!  It was quite the wonderful surprise to receive packages today.

All of my secret santas have been wonderful - thank you all so much for the wonderful gifts!  You really have made my holiday season SO much brighter.

39  Happy Snickerdoodles! in Dessert by spotnik on: December 22, 2009 08:41:39 PM
My family has never really celebrated Christmas/Hanukkah/Festivus/Yule.  My mother is Jewish and my father is Atheist, so...you can see the conflict there, yes?

Anyway, in my house growing up, the winter holiday season has always been about food.  When my dad remarried (when I was about 7 y/o) my stepmother gladly joined in the festival of food.  She taught me to bake - one of my favorite things to do.

When I moved out of my mother's house 22 years ago I took her copy of Betty Crocker's Cooky Book (took, not given - I am such a bad kid  Wink ).  This book was a first edition that my mom had picked up for pennies at a garage sale when she and my father were first married.  I still have this book, but it is falling apart and I am afraid to use it, since it will probably just crumble to pieces.  As I am sure you can imagine, I was thrilled when they reissued the Cooky Book a few years ago.  Seriously, it has some of the BEST cookie recipes I've ever baked.

Long story, I know - so, tonight I made Snickerdoodles, and wanted to share.

Mmmmm tasty!

40  Re: 2009 Secret Santa Wish List Swap Discussion & Gallery in The Swap Gallery by spotnik on: December 21, 2009 04:36:03 PM
Ok, I rushed through that mess I was working on...and I have opened my packages.  I just have to say SQUEEEEE!  I have to apologize for the picture quality - I live in Oregon and we haven't had any sun in days.  I took these pics in the brightest part of my house (the hallway) but this prevented me from getting good closeups and from hanging stuff up.  So, sorry about that.

Without further ado, pictures:

First, from CraftyDeb:

A platypus!!!!!!!!!  I collect stuffed platypuses (?) and they all sleep in the bed with me and hubby.  (Weird, I know)  This platypus is made of corduroy and I've decided his name is Horatio.  What you cannot see is that Horatio's feet are stitched with blue thread to match his body.  SO cute.  Horatio is hanging out with me as I type this.  He's snuggly!

PLUS!  Two reusable grocery bags.  I love these!  As you can see, they have ties for easy carrying.  The fabric is just too adorable and makes me smile every time I look at it.

Second, from an unknown Secret Santa:

A monster bag!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!  I have wanted one of these for a really long time - since I saw one on here, as a matter of fact.  He is adorable, and the winter coat I wear (a cape actually) is gray, so monster will go perfectly with my cape.  Now I just need a name for him.  Suggestions?   Cheesy

Finally, from another unknown Secret Santa, who tells me he/she tried these two crafts for the first time in making these items for me!  I am sure you will agree, my loot is great:

Handmade paper!  It is beautiful - plenty of pieces of it so I have plenty to play with.  You cannot really see the gorgeous colors, but trust me it is fab.

A t-shirt recon.  I love it - this is one of my fave colors, and it fits very well.

Finally - he/she spoiled me - check out this gorgeous shirt.  A thrift store find, according to my Secret Santa, who clearly has some shopping SKILLS!

Thank you so very much Deb and my other two Secret Santas.  I feel truly spoiled.

And I'd dearly love to know who my Secret Santas are - please?  I think you two deserve some public accolades on this thread, since you rock so much!
