11  Re: come one! come all! post pics of your tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by Rylizbeth on: January 13, 2006 10:16:26 AM
I've been wanting to add my pics to this thread since it began and I just got a camera for Christmas. Even though mine aren't nearly as cool, or as beautiful as the others here (partially b/c most are old & partially b/c I didn't take proper care of them) they are mine &  I still love them. In chronological order... ( I hope they're not too big)

One is missing because I can't get a decent photo of it. I plan on getting some touch ups done as well as new ones as soon as I can.

Thanks for looking

14  the Daryl scarf in Knitting: Completed Projects by Rylizbeth on: July 11, 2005 11:58:17 AM
I got the Celebrity Scarves book when I was first learning to knit ( I thought it was going to teach me something, silly me) Anyhow, there were some pretty scarves in the book, so I made Daryl Hannah's (the one on the cover)

I liked the photography too.

17  I made a brick in Completed Projects by Rylizbeth on: June 16, 2005 11:55:49 AM
so the story goes...I was waiting tables at this little local place that had live music on the weekends. One Saturday nite we had a blues performer by the name of Catfish Hodge came in. Apparently he was quite popular locally the 70's. So I was working and asked if he needed anything. "A brick" he replied. "Sorry, I'm fresh outta bricks" I answered. Later in the evening he asked me "Have you found me a brick yet?" "not yet" I said. My much older sister was quite jealous because she was a BIG fan of his & wanted to know about the little inside thing Catfish & I had going. Anyhow the next time he came to play I made sure I had a brick for him. The cool thing was that he actually truly appreciated it. Even though it was such a simple thing he appreciated the thought & the fact that it was something I had made, you know.

sorry for the picture quality

Sorry to be long winded. Just thought a catfish brick needed a little explanation. Thanks for looking.

18  Re: Art Clay? in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by Rylizbeth on: May 18, 2005 12:03:31 PM

How did you achieve such a beautifully smooth finish?

Thanks!
This is a trick i learned from my instructor. You can use "Wet Ones" wet wipes to smooth the surface during the green stage (before it is fired). This really helps get it smooth.

Thanks!

Hi tcap

I have been using Art Clay for 6 months or so now and I really am liking it. here is a link to a similar thread:

https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=32157.0

You can get a mirror finish from art clay, here is one of my certification pieces:

It is not even fully buffed yet! This center of the pendant is a piece of dichroic glass. This was a real easy project and took only an hour or so!
Good luck! I hope you enjoy experimenting with it!
