1  Nudey Tudey Dress & Belt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Crafty_Rose on: October 06, 2009 01:43:00 AM
So apparently nude is the colour to be wearing this spring as well as revealed edgey zips. Not to forget the high waisted belts which are still around.

So here's my little creation.

Here's a better photo of the belt.

I looked in at least 5 different large shopping malls for a light coloured belt to go with a black dress I bought for a winter wedding... but EVERYWHERE had only black or brown belts! So down I toddled to the local emporium. Picked up some buckles and fake leather stuff for under $5 and went about copying the ($160) belt that the dress was displayed with at the shop. I was very pleased! First time belt maker Smiley

2  My Sewing Corner :D in Interior Decorating: Completed Projects by Crafty_Rose on: October 01, 2009 08:42:32 PM
At the mo I'm living in the old master bedroom of my parents house, which (lucky me!) has two wardrobes. One I use for clothes, the other tends to be spewing with junk (read: old clothes, bags & shoes I never use). Yesterday I got allllll the clothes out of the spare wardrobe & took most of it down the road to the city mission op shop. I got home to my empty wardrobe & had a brainwave: Sewing corner!!!

SO after many hours of sorting, chucking, dragging, sawing & rearranging, I present my little sewing cupboard. It's rather, umm, how do I say.. shabby chic?

Let me know what you think and if you have any brill ideas for it please let me know! Also, I think it's deserving of a catchy name & name plaque. Ideas??

'So welcome to my little corner of the world'

It's all reflecty...

Beautiful buttons & books

It's a mood board. Lovin' it!

Luckily there's plenty of space for all those 'work in progress' garments...

Patterns kept in my great-grandpa's old money box

Colourful cotton

And to finish

Eeep! I can't wait to use it!!

3  Tea Chest in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Crafty_Rose on: May 30, 2009 06:47:09 PM
I was inspired by Marinka's tutorial https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=205989.0 to create my own tea box. One of my tea-mad friends is about to have her 21st (tomorrow) so I decided to make one for her. So I set to following her amazing tutorial and this is what came of it: It could have been a lot better... but it also could have been a lot worse. If I had more time I would have spent more time and effort on the decorating and finishing touches.

I did a few things differently from the tutorial I followed but mostly I followed the instructions.

4  Cute High-Waisted Skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by Crafty_Rose on: February 08, 2009 10:46:28 PM
I haven't sewn anything in aaaages!!! This morning I dusted off the sewing machine and made this skirt. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out considering I didn't use a pattern and had very little material to use.

I thought of adding some pockets, but couldnt decide what type and didn't have any left over material. I don't think it will be too plain if I wear it with a belt, jewellery or something. I want to make some more highwaisted skirts, maybe a little shorter and with more summery fabrics. Exciting!

5  Archie comic beads in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Crafty_Rose on: February 08, 2009 03:01:51 AM
I was inspired by the micky mouse comic beads posted on craftster: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=220344.0

So I decided to give it a shot... I'm not sure if I did it right... I kinda just used the modge podge as a glue and collaged all the little bits of comic on and then covered it with a couple more layers of modge podge.

I'm very new to the whole modge podge thing... Am I using it right? Should I be sealing them with something to protect them?

Comments/tips very appreciated!

6  Shrinky Dink: I love it!! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Crafty_Rose on: February 08, 2009 02:50:24 AM
I finally managed to track down some shrinky dink  Grin I got a pack of 8 sheets- 2 black, 2 white, 2 clear & 2 transclucent.

So today I sat down and began experimenting... It was sooo much fun!! It's amazing to watch the transformation in the oven & how little & detailed it looks at the end of it all.

So here's what I made:

1 psychadalic revolver pendant, 2 buttons & an 'Emily' ...something. I wasn't expecting it to turn out so small!! (approx 2cm x 0.5cm). I don't know what to do with it but it's very cute!!

It's very hard to tell in the pictures but the large black looking flowers are actually coloured dark purple and a couple of leaves are green.

I drew on both the revolver pendant and the 'Emily' with coloured pencil and the buttons were done with permanent marker... I really need to get markers with thinner tips!

I made this one for a friend who loves Bob Marley.

Comment/tips very much appreciated... also, what should I do with my little 'Emily'?!?

7  Re: Business Name thread - Get opinions and ideas about names for your business! in Crafty Business Discussion by Crafty_Rose on: February 02, 2009 01:48:12 AM
I'm thinking about starting a website to sell some of the crafts I make... but before I do I really need to think of a name for my range. Any ideas on how to pick a good design name??

I will be selling lots of various crafts (jewellery, canvas art, bags, headbands, notebooks etc)

I've had a bit of a think about it and what I've come up with so far is:

1. Vallamont-
I found this old marble plaque in our attic a couple of years ago- I've lived here my whole life but never remember coming across it before. Anyway, apparently it was the 'name' of our house and used to be displayed outside(?). So I thought I could use the name 'Vallamont' and maybe use images of the plaque in some of my designs.

2. MLE Designs-
Quite simple- my name is Emily and when you same "MLE" fast it sounds like 'Emily'. Maybe I could have each letter "M, L & E" stand for something?

3. EODesigns-

My initials are 'EOD'... speaks for itself really  Wink

Yeah, so thats all I've really come up with so far... any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

8  Necklaces for my friends 21st! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Crafty_Rose on: January 06, 2009 01:13:28 PM
For one of my good friend's 21st present I decided to make her a gift package containing a whole lot of stuff I made. These three necklaces are a part of the package... if you like you can check out the other bits and pieces I made her by looking at my other posts  Smiley

These earrings are made from some sort of french stone and black swarovski beads.

This is a mini-wini, hehe. Early last year I made her a soft toy which we named Winifred This necklace is a miniture version of her (unfortunately the detail didn't show up that well in the photo):

The 'real' Winifred":

Canvas art which I also made her featuring Winifred & her friend Earnest:

A necklace I made using a piece of scrabble (incase you were wondering her name starts with 'M'! I have also made myself one Smiley

And the whole package:

Thanks for looking! Let me know what you think Smiley

9  Alphabet Shaped Blackboard in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by Crafty_Rose on: January 06, 2009 12:58:39 PM
This is one part of the crafty package I am giving one of my good friends for her 21st birthday present. I wish I could lump them altogether in one post but you will just have to check them all out individually if you want to see them  Wink

So, her name starts with 'M' so I decided to make her an 'M' shaped blackboard for her to put in her bedroom. I used a jig-saw to cut the 'M' shape out of the wood and then painted it with a couple of layers of blackboard paint. Quite simple really!

Complete gift package:

Let me know what you think! And check out my other topics if you're keen to see what else was in the package.

10  Fugly Friends Canvas Art in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by Crafty_Rose on: November 14, 2008 11:36:48 PM
It's my good friend's 21st and for her present I've decided to make her a whole bunch of stuff  Smiley This is the first thing I've made towards the present.

The 'models' are Winifred & Earnest, our soft-toy fugly friends. I made Winifred for her last year and Earnest for myself... I have posted pics of them on craftster as well. Both of the portraits were made of the same materials as the original soft-toys (cord, buttons, ribbon, mesh fabric) and placed onto canvas blocks covered with calico.  The colourful fabric on one of the canvas' is on the back of Winifred.

Earnest stuck his head in the photos numerous times, cheeky monkey!

And this is Winifred: (she couldn't make it to the photoshoot, too busy buying 21st present)

Please do let me know if you have any ideas of what else I should make her... I've been thinking notebooks, necklace, earrings, purse...
