The blue dress is beautiful.  I love the neckline.

That's a beautiful design.  Cutting spirals takes so much patience.

I think you might be thinking of pull taffy. It's tan coloured and sort of creamy tasting. Here's my grandma's recipe, in case you want to try making some:

2 cups sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1/2 cup butter
1 tbsp vinegar
1 tsp molasses

Boil all the ingredients together, stirring constantly, until the candy reaches the hard crack stage.  Pour onto a greased baking sheet until cool enough to handle.  Cover your hands with a little butter and pull the taffy back and forth until it turns shiny and light coloured.  Cut into pieces.

I hope that's helpful. Smiley

My brother used to make these when he was in high school; I had one that lasted for years.  I like how you did the weaving on the outside.

It looks great.  Did you use a pattern?
9  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Re: Easy McCall's #4444, not so easy on: May 09, 2008 07:58:57 PM
I made this pattern last summer.  All went well until I had to attach the band to the dress; I didn't find the instructions very clear and ended up kind of winging it.  However, I loved the completed dress and I might make another one this summer.

I like the design; I'm now inspired to do something similar with some green fleece I have lying around.
