1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Vintage Silk Dress with Fabric Flower Tutorial Link on: May 12, 2011 08:53:33 AM
It started off as a very simple 1950's silk dress. I've been going to TONS of weddings lately and started feeling a little silly so I wanted to make this creamy dress into something more romantic. There was a spot of yellow from age on the top of one shoulder so I planned the flower placement around that and let it grow from there.

I used different texture/color fabrics for the flowers. You can see more before/afters and my step by step flower tutorial here: http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.197199993651963.41882.120862474619049

End result: I'd totally get married in this! Let me know if I left something out in the tutorial.

2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / pink and black cowl neck top on: April 24, 2009 06:41:10 PM
I'm starting to love pink again. Haha, at least when it's paired with black!

For the cowl neck all I did was make additional brighter pink asymmetrical piece to lap over over the light pink, sew on some large buttons, and added an extra long "belt loop". The inside is black.

I like how it turned out, especially with the raglan sleeves.

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Getting Back to my Roots and a Harajuku Recon on: September 02, 2008 06:17:56 PM
OMG, I haven't posted in here in waaaay too long. Life was getting rather chaotic for a while there.

Anyway, I was organizing my sewing room and found a couple of my old 2005/06 patterns that I filed away.
I dunno, I kinda feel like I've strayed a bit from the things and the colors I used to love to do.
I stopped making them because I felt like they were everywhere (especially the scoop neck hoodies, layered sleeves, and print tops. Once I saw them popping up in stores, I stopped making a lot of them).
The uber high cowl necks never bothered me because you only see diyers do them. It just bugs when it reaches the mall  Undecided  Haha, not to say that hoodies, scoops necks, etc are anything new--they've always been around, but it was pretty silly for a while there.

I'd love to hear any comments or criticisms!!!  Kiss

I love, love this dress. You can't tell in the pictures but the gray bust area has horizontal pin tucking. It also has a little collar that stops at the collar bone.
Does anyone use the pin tuck foot on their machine?
I wonder if it's easier.

ack, the pics came out waaay too small, sorry!!! I know this should be in recons, but I wanted to share it anyway. It's a Harajuku Hoodie that needed revamping so I took a stripe sweatshirt cotton, added side inserts front and back, short sleeves, and took some of the cupcakes from the print and made patches for one sleeve and the back (just to tie it all together)
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Who says you can't make a Cowl Hoodie? on: May 10, 2008 07:53:29 PM
Okay, I totally got the idea while watching Star Wars. You know, Princess Leia, hair buns, white dress with a loose hood? I just had to make one!
The trick was to get it to look like a cowl instead of a hoodie--especially in the back. Without the "button tab" in the front it really wouldn't have pulled it off. But man, it turned out way better than I expected.
I know it isn't really functional (lol, I can't picture people really walking around with this type of hoodie all the time) but I love challenges and the idea that fashion can secretly be something "whimsical" or... I dunno... different--it's pretty fun.

Oh and here's another I  L-O-V-E!!! I miss doing boatnecks...
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / new labelofhope Tops kimono style and more on: April 22, 2008 10:46:45 AM
So I got my new camera in and I've been goofing with it so much my eyes are crossed! Here's some pics of my new creations.

I think my favorite has to the kimono one but I am super proud of the black and brown one (the back is way too cool!) Kiss
