91  Re: 7/16/08 - New ads being shown on Craftster in Latest News by SewMamaLady on: August 07, 2008 04:11:46 PM

I just thought I'd let you know I've been getting these pop up ads. I also have no problem with the ads, I realize when I get online I'm going to get bombarded with them, so I'm good at ignoring them. I do however, get severely annoyed by pop ups. Just thought I'd mention it, if it irritated me, I'm sure it did someone else.

Sorry to quote an image, but this is what I'd wrote about before and got told there were no pop ups running. They're typically different ads and I don't have any screen shots because I tried to blow it off since I'd been told it was probably my computer. But I noticed that when I turn my pop up blocker off they start to pop up again on this site. Like I said, it probably is something I just can't catch but mentioning couldn't hurt. The other problem just happens when I click links and buttons. It just goes straight to their website.

92  Re: Hippy Swap Round 2 - Hippy Happiness! in The Swap Gallery by SewMamaLady on: July 31, 2008 09:18:57 PM
Here are my goods! I'm very excited to show them off, my partner did an awesome job. I'm having a hard time picking my favorite thing. Smiley

Here are all the goodies together.

This is the macrame owl. I love this owl. He is just so cute. I have an owl fetish, with a serious lack of owl collection. I once walked into a thrift store to find that a lady who collected owls passed away and her son had ditched them all there for cash. There were probably 500 different owl figurines and I bought MANY. I then lost them in a move and only have my owl book ends left. So, it's nice to add back to my collection.

Here is my beaded necklace. I love the colors. They match the skirt really well and I told her I love greens and blues. These are the perfect greens and blues. It has a little butterfly on it, which is a perfect touch.

This is the scarf, which is perfect for hot Texas weather, because it's very light. I guess it could be wrapped around the waist too.

This is a dress she made for my baby. It's perfect! She made it a little too big, because my babe is 8 months old and growing quickly. We love it very much, it's perfect for a hippy baby girly girl. Smiley

This is the amazing patchwork skirt she made. I love, love, love this. It's shorter too, so it can be worn in this heat. I think it'd be cute with leggings in the fall too. Possibly even moccasin type boots would be awesome with it. I actually have a bag that I made out of the teal material, so I can wear it with that!! I was so excited when I realized that.

This is a hat that I had wisted! I've never had an awesome hippy slouchy hat, I was so excited that she could make this. It looks just like the one I had wisted. My stepdaughter immediately had it on her head and I have a feeling she's going to try to "steal" it. So I'm putting it in my closet while not in use. lol However, she is a cute hat model.

Thanks AradiaLane again, this was great! Geez, sorry so picture heavy. I was just too in love with my stuff to not show it off adequately. Wink

94  Re: Hippy Swap Round 2 (Sign ups June 16th 29th Send out by July 31st) in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by SewMamaLady on: July 05, 2008 02:27:17 PM
I was inspired to clean my "craft room" after all the pictures, so I thought I would share mine. It's nothing special but it's nice that my family allows me to have some space. Anyway, here goes:

Before -

After -

Sorry so picture heavy. Smiley It doesn't look like that much of a change, but there was heavy internal reorganizing efforts performed.  Cheesy I tried posting earlier but it didn't work out, Photobucket hates me sometimes.

95  baby "corset" dress, reconstructed onesie (several pictures) in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by SewMamaLady on: May 18, 2008 08:53:05 PM
I made this last night/today for my little one who is just six months old. I was inspired by vegbee's corset dress for her monkey. I have to admit that her creations are my faves. Smiley Anyway, my mom bought this onesie set at Wal-Mart. We wear the pants all the time with some little t-shirts. (my favorite says "Fabulous 24/7") She's starting to outgrow it and has never worn it. It was long sleeved so I chopped them off and added a skirt. I also cut the buttons out of the back to add the ribbon. I just used buttonholes to thread the ribbon through. I also used a really neat decorative stitch with little leaves. I also added little buttons at the top. This was an opportunity to use my "new" embroidery/sewing machine, the Kenmore Ergo3 19010. It was amazing! It was my Mother's day present and it is super awesome. Here is the end result, with action shots.

96  Paper Pals in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by SewMamaLady on: April 22, 2008 09:33:06 PM
These are my baby's new best buddies. They are made from felt, hand stitched. She likes to eat them. Smiley (Buttons are very reinforced so they will not pop off.)

Ima Inkblot and Papel Paper, appropriately named.

I think they're fun. Kinda funny. Smiley Enjoy! I was inspired by all the cute softies I've seen on Craftster.

97  Pillowish Wise Stuffed Owl Friend in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by SewMamaLady on: April 15, 2008 10:22:12 PM
I've been on an owl kick lately. I think it's because I have a five month old I've been sewing for and I had a quilt with a very retro owl that I have always loved. She uses it now and it's inspired me. So anyway, I crafted this owl. I don't really have any instructions as I just started cutting and stitching away. It just kind of happened. I thought at first he would be a great tote bag so I reinforced him with interfacing and added bias tape to the top, but when my Little Miss Baby-pants saw him and tried to eat his nose I knew it was destiny they be together. He's come out quiet sturdy and adorable in her pink and brown color schemed nursery-ish room.

He's a great addition to our family. He lives next to Daddy's vintage Bert and Ernie. They're all great friends now, throw fabulous dinner parties and feast on Swanson TV dinners.

98  First Post - Baby Owl Bibs in Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects by SewMamaLady on: April 15, 2008 10:01:32 PM
Wink Hi! I, for some bizarre reason, only found this website recently. I am now totally addicted and wanted to show off some bibs I decorated in the last few weeks. My great friend, who has also posted some purses and things on Craftster, bought these bibs at Ikea and I used felt and hand stitched little hand made owls to them. They turned out really cute and I actually sold one of them. They are the first thing I've done like this and they were fairly easy. I'm not so sure that felt on a bib is incredibly practical, but it's cute as it can be. Thanks for looking.  Cheesy
One day a friend at work started working with felt and I bought a ton of sheets after seeing some of his work. There are a lot of really neat felt projects out there.

Pink tie-dye owl hiding in the trees-

I love her especially because she doesn't quite want to come out. She seems timid.

Close up of blue baby owl with tie-dye blue and green belly -

Daddy and Little Miss Baby-pants were my first fabulous models.

I told Daddy I'd chop his head off to protect his sacred, manly integrity.

I basically printed free clip art and used it to form some of the shapes, so the owls come from bits and pieces of different free images. I free handed the skinnier tree and the more bubbly ones were from clip art as well. The moons were cut with a paper cutter that I bought specifically for cutting felt. I have to use the sheets with it but it's become super handy. The owls are stitched and reinforced with hot glue, then stitched to the bib, which are reinforced with interfacing. A very fun project!!
