31  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / houseplant/garden swap on: February 16, 2006 12:16:15 PM
Would anyone be interested in a houseplant/outdoor garden swap? Sending seeds to other countries would be difficult, but more along the lines of garden journals, tips, cookbooks, planter decorations etc.
32  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 7 ENTRIES / Kangaroo: Grown up girl PJ pal on: November 08, 2005 10:22:43 AM
My first challenge entry ever:
From one pair of jeans.
Here she is my grown up gal PJ pal:

The front pocket is just the right size to hold a condom.
I Frankenstien'd a teddy bear pattern - sharpened the nose, made the arms smaller, the feet bigger, the tummy fatter and added a kangaroo tail.
The eyes are child proof, but the nose is not.
I just so happened to have denim colored yarn so she also got a scarf.
In the back, where you leave it unsewn to add stuffing I also added a small zippered pocket with the jean zipper and the pocket lining:

The pocket is small, but all a gal really needs can fit in there - toothbrush, pair of undies.....
Hope you like her.
33  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Mccalls 3000 frogs on: October 20, 2005 11:31:39 AM
My Mom gave me this pattern ages ago and I finally made some frogs for my niece.

The eyes are child proof.
Here they are getting stuffed - they each took 7 cups of rice and 1 cup of sage (to keep with the cowgirl theme):

A belly shot - the fabric is from reprodepot.

Thanks for looking.
34  CLOTHING / Clothing Sewalongs / Simplicity 4559 luau dress on: August 30, 2005 10:28:55 AM
I thought I would start a sew along for this one:
even though I'm still waiting for the fabric (not much longer). I can tell already that this one will need to be altered since I'm short-waisted and I'll have to figure out how to add a built in bra. Anyone want to sew along?
35  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Sew crafty mini - help on: July 27, 2005 12:00:14 PM
I just picked up a sew crafty mini on sale. I got it home and can not for the life of me figure out how to change the bobbin or for that matter fill it up with a different color thread. The instructions are fairly useless - they just show how to thread it and how to take it off the machine.
Anyone use one of these and know how to do this?
36  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / cocktail monkey bag *now with variations on page 2 pix heavy* on: May 05, 2005 04:07:11 PM
I used the pattern on knitty.com. The hemp cord was a pain to knit with and I couldn't find the fringe it called for so I made my own with some eyelash yarn.
Here it is:

here is the liner:
37  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / how to scent rice for beanie animal? on: October 09, 2004 05:56:21 PM
So I found a pattern from the '70's of those beanbag animals  (frogs and turtles). It calls for stuffing them with 7 cups of rice. I was hoping to scent it with lavender or some other calming scents. Should I just use lavender flower heads or should I use essential oils? If I use oils, what would be the suggested parts per cup of rice?
