11  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Favourite Christmas Treats? on: November 26, 2010 06:22:21 PM
CraftyLittleLady, I haven't thought too much about how to package them yet, but a simple idea is cellophane bag with a ribbon? I'm probably going to do something simple like that since they're going to be put into a basket as well.

Google it and there might be some other ideas. I just googled it and there were a couple things, but I didn't look too much.

Let me know if you do find something really cute and low budget. Smiley

13  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Designer Grad Dress! :P on: November 23, 2010 06:07:13 PM
This is extremely late. I designed and made my own grad dress for this last May. Of course, everybody kept freaking out because I started so "late". I told everybody I knew so that I had to hold myself to it. I didn't start my dress until January or February and everybody was worried I wouldn't finish it on time. Except for me. Tongue

I enjoy saying I had a designer grad dress. Tongue

Anyway! Here's the dress!

Back::(also hair which was done by my lovely boyfriend's cousin)

(I had wished I could've used wider ribbon but I didn't have any)

And just some others for fun::

And me and my boy::

Me and my besties:: (three of my boyfriend's cousin, BF's sister, two of my cousins, and a girl I grew up with, and my BF Smiley)
14  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Favourite Christmas Treats? on: November 20, 2010 11:58:20 AM
I'm going to be doing some baked goods baskets to grandparents and DBF's parents, etc so I'm trying to come up with some stuff.

I was thinking general treats like fudge, cookies, brownies, etc.
And then maybe some "recipes in a jar" and doing cookies/cake in that for some people.
Or like drink mixes. I have this mochaccino drink recipe that I think I might do again and I was thinking some others as well.

What are your favourite recipes (cookies, brownies, etc)?
And any good "recipes in a jar" ideas/recipes?

15  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: Business Name thread - Get opinions and ideas about names for your business! on: November 17, 2010 10:43:47 AM
I don't want to do that either because everything else is already CeeJay.

What about something like CeeJayCouture or CeeJayRose? Anything else like that? Something that just sounds good?
16  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Finishing Seams - Serging on: November 16, 2010 12:58:08 PM
Do you serge all your seams on your clothes?

Also, do you sell your clothes? Do you find it's an absolute must to serge??

I am currently not selling my clothes, but I do not own a serger right now so if I need to finish off the seams I usually just do a zig zag.

I'm hoping to open a store in the near(ish) future. I want to sell mainly clothes. Or at least that's how it'll start. I also like to make denim purses and I'm looking into making masquerade masks (because I love those things!).

I had wanted to do CeeJayDesigns but found it was taken. Then next idea was CeeJayCreations...but that's taken, too.

I want something with CeeJay because that's how I identify myself with anything of mine (my email address, my photography account, etc) so I was hoping to keep that. Those are also my first two initials. I would put my last initial but it's P and it just looks funny all put together (plus it will change once I get married whenever that is).

So...what kind of names can I do with CeeJay in them that would leave me open to selling other things in the future?
18  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Material of Clothes when selling on: November 13, 2010 10:09:00 AM
So, I'm thinking of selling clothes that I make at some point. In the descriptions, people always put what kind of material.

So...what if we don't know what kind of material it is?? I mean, when you buy it at a fabric store, somewhere it's written what kind of fabric it is. But I get my fabric from all sorts of places (lots of random things of bold fabric from second hand stores) and I don't know what kind of material it is.

What should I do then?? Is it very important to have the type of fabric?

I would give instructions on washing it either way and most of my fabrics are just basic type ones that don't need special washing instructions.
19  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / Re: Profile pic on etsy on: November 13, 2010 10:05:25 AM
A picture of the seller.

Sometimes buyers feel more comfortable if they can actually see who they're buying from. It makes you seem more real I guess instead of just a random something on the net.
20  CLOTHING / Costumes: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to make Venetian/Masqurade Masks on: October 31, 2010 02:16:23 PM
Thanks! I think I'll be trying the plaster. I have a mask already that perfectly fits my face so I'm going to use that to work off of.

I can't wait to try them!! If it turns out well, I might make a whole bunch of bases and then store them somewhere before I decorate them.
