1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: ~*Harry Potter Craftalong ~ Midsummer Term 2019*~ Join ANYTIME! on: September 01, 2019 09:35:52 PM
Hi all, turns out I missed some detaills on my "Love to Do Challenge" list, so here is my more detailed list

1)set of christmas aprons for my nieces and I following using a pattern of my own creation based on a few different patterns from fleecefun.com and McCall's.

2)hoodies or sweaters for myself using an old sweater as the pattern - a black & purple one, and a printed one for sure, a bergundy one with a freezer paper stencil for Christmas

3)tie dye blankets - I let my nieces use water balloons and water guns to dye some fleece, they've decided they'd rather blankets than sweaters this year from the cats, so I want to freezer paper stencil a paw print on to each and crochet a sparkly silver border on them.

4)spa sets - I have supplies to make face masks, bath bombs, lip chap, bath salts, and body lotion, and fabric to make hair towels and slippers, so the plan is to make the stuff closer to Christmas so we can give it as gifts.

5)Christmas extravaganza sleepover stuff
*3 handmade invitations to send in the mail
*task cards for scavenger hunt and task completion activities
   *5 recipe books - 15 recipes/book, 5 different books - breads,cookies,muffins,
    fudge,snack mixes

6)Halloween duvet cover - Black cat crossing blocks, pieced together top, cotton back.  No pattern designed yet, fabric is purchased, so I just need to decide the plan.

7) Christmas quilts - 3 flannelette strip quilts in red/black/grey for my nieces, they'll be about 40" x 80" I think, or 50" x 70", they'll be to use during our Christmas sleepover.

Cool New pajama's, 4 sets, one for each of my nieces, and one for myself.  pants and shirts for them, just pants for myself with an appliqued shirt to match.

9) Advent calendars - quilted panels with bias binding to finish.  1 for myself, and 1 for each of my nieces.  Also plan to fill them with trinkets and such.

10)Christmas board games, I plan to create a Christmas version of MONOPOLY as well as a Christmas version of CLUE, only thing I won't be creating is the money, well use the debit cards from our current monopoly game

I've been away so long it seems that I think I will properly return February 1st fresh and ready for the spring semester, no past O.W.Ls or N.E.W.Ts, I've been in a funk and want to refocus on things

I'm going to come an add the pics tonight from my phone, but it's just easier to type things up on the computer.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Apparrition
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: tie dye shirts
Brief Description: Our TOPS chapter will be dressing up in outfits that come from 1967, so one night we all got together at our meeting place and dyed shirts together, then I brought them home to rinse and dry, these are the results.

So excited for summer, guess books my Niece has chosen to try reading Harry Potter and the Philospher's stone!!! She's 11, and she's a little bit worried about the books being scary and nightmares, but I think she'll be alright with them.  We'll be doing a combination of reading together, reading alone, and listening to audio books.

Hi everyone, seems it's been awhile, but with it being summer, I'm thinking I might have more time to craft.

I have either finished or dismissed all previouse O.W.L & N.E.W.T proposals, yet some really old ones are still on the list, can they be deleted?  I have new proposals for the summer and here they are:

Subject: Care of Magical Creatures
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Bunnies and Monkeys
Brief Description: I bough 8 crochet kits, 4 bunnies, 4 monkeys.  Each of my nieces were told they could earn one this summer by G knowing all of her multiplication facts, E knowing how to read and write all words at her grade level, M completing the kindergarten reading list.  So while they are participating in the summer reading club, I will be creating a tiny village of animals.

OWL Subject & Option(if available): Alchemy #1
House:  Hufflepuff
Project Name: At home spa
Brief Description: my niece and I will be creating a number of at home bath treatments this summer, from lilac oil, to bath tea, bath bombs, soap, and whatever else we can find recipes for

Wow, hard to believe we're already 22 days in to 2017, and I haven't claimed a spot yet, guess now is as good a time as any!

So I just realized this post never went through on the first day of term(I had it saved in my microsoft document)Sad  and I've already spent time on the project, so I hope it can be counted, please let me know if it can't be counted.

OWL Subject & Option(if available): Transfiguration Option 1
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: Winter coat
Brief Description: (how it fits the requirements, pattern/techniques used, materials using, plan of action, expected timeline, etc.)  I have 3 meters of minky fleece, 3 meters of batting, and 3 meters of commander outerwear fabric.  From this, I am going to make a new wintercoat that actually fits the length of my arms and body!  I want a nice dressy coat, so itll take a while to complete.

***NEWT PROPOSAL*** (Have designed the quilt, and calculated all fabric requirements, which has taken me 2 weeks to settle on), must be done for November 24th.
Subject: Arithmancy
House: Hufflepuff
Project Name: bed coverlets
Brief Description: So we just set up our guest room as 2 separate twin beds and a foamy instead of the 1 king the girls shared before, now the king duvet I made them for Christmas wont work.  So I plan to make 3 new ones, that are winter themed (think that will work better than just a Christmas themed set)

   NEWT - Astronomy
NEWT Subject: Astronomy
House: Huffle puff
Project Name: Assorted prizes
Project Page Link (if available):
Brief Description: I created 5 of each of the items pictured for a total of 70 prizes,  it took about 6 months of off and on work (at least 3 hours/week, sometimes more), and once they were made I packaged them and attached tags letting the members know who donated the prizes.

Project  dump, but since photo's are on one device and I find it easier to post from my computer, I'll write the class prompts and come back later tonight to add pics - Those in power - if my pics aren't up before you update, I'll copy and paste and and repost it correctly.

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Care of Magical Creatures
Project Name:TOPS/KOPS pledge
Brief Description: I always make up the TOPS/KOPS pledges in a way that matches the theme for our fall rally, this years theme was "Under the stars", so I typed each pledge on to a star, then cut them out and glued them together, laminated them and added a tassle.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:Charms
Project Name:star quilt
Brief Description: I realized I had a load of the star fabric left, and had about 10metres of navy binding, so I cut the fabric in to strips, sewed it all together and binded it with the navy binding.  Then I raffled it off.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride:Charms
Project Name:star quilt
Brief Description: When we moved, I had these fabric scraps that I tossed in a bag with no regard to what I'd use them for, and full intentions to use it as dusting rags/home made wipes, well when I found them I realized inf used right, I had enough for a throw quilt, so I made it and raffled it off.
Project Picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Flying
Project Name: Balloon weights
Brief Description: These were a project that I had to be quick with, it first involved cleaning wax out of all the tiny little glass pots, then filling them with hot glue and sticking the star in before it dried, and then we added foil stars when we got to the event.  I made 30 in total
Project picture:

Class/Challenge/House Pride: Muggle studies
Project Name:Chapter flag
Brief Description: Our TOPS chapter recently changed their logo, mascot, etc.  We then needed a new banner, so I created the back ground and elephant, then I had each member write their name on a piece of felt and have pinned them on - we can remove or add as we gain and say good bye to members.
