2  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Re: Getting rid of spiders - non chemically on: April 21, 2013 05:54:15 PM
Spiders don't like water, once you get the jungle tamed and sprinklers set up the "balance" you are looking for will happen naturally.  If they need to be reduced in numbers in order for you to get out there taming the jungle I suggest a good watering before you go out

Eggless flourless macaroons

1 400g package of unsweetened shredded coconut
1 300 ml can of sweetened condensed milk

mix the 2 ingredients together and place by spoonfuls on parchment paper lined pans
leave mounded for softer consistency or flatten slightly for crispy edges and chewier consistency, they do not spread very much. bake at 350 till edges and peaks are golden, watch carefully they burn fast!  leave on parchment for a short while as they are too soft when hot to be removed from pan right away.  One craftster on this site made them and said she had to beat her husband off them with a stick!
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Looking for "manly" crafting projects on: November 14, 2011 05:35:53 PM
How squeamish is he, cause taxidermy is definitely manly and really does not take up a lot of room.  A male craftster here (forgot his screen name) does some interesting stuff I especially liked his wunderkammer and he also make a figiian mermaid out of a fish that looked pretty cool!
5  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Where can i find some nice long feathers on: November 14, 2011 05:29:26 PM

6  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Re: Help #2: Ants in My Plants -- Friend or Foe? on: March 25, 2011 03:19:35 PM
UPDATE for a very old thread, to get rid of ants use aspartame I swear to god I put two little packs of sweetener on a med sized hill and that sucker was dead in 2 days.  It has to be aspartame though, not any of the other sweeteners like splenda.
7  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to do padded hearts without 'corners' appearing on: March 05, 2011 04:57:48 PM
On curves that are convex you must make little cuts in towards but not through the seam, if the curve is concave you must cut out little v's of fabric again up to but not through the seam itself.
8  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Reverse Seared Pork Steaks on: August 08, 2010 12:05:42 PM
I am drooling on my keyboard (literally) my favorite meat is pork bbq'd or pit roasted whole.  I live in northern bc and pork steaks are very common here.

I once saw a folding screen decorated with mosaic made of broken mirror used in a yard to block the sight of the car and driveway from the sitting area, looked really pretty.
