1  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / I want to fix up this journal, but how? (Image heavy.) on: September 30, 2008 05:07:09 AM
Anyways, so I found someone's old art book in the trash at school. I don't usually dig in the trash, if you're wondering, but this book was sticking out and practically ASKING me to take it. There were a ton of empty pages inside, so it would have been a waste to leave it in there anyways.  Wink

At first, I was going to give it to my sister; she likes sketching and started drawing in it right away. Then, I kind of fell in love with it and couldn't stop imagining how great it would be as a fabric covered journal. And by covering it with fabric, I could get rid of the icky paint splatters and pen marks on the cover!

But there were a few things in my way. For one, how would I remove the used pages? I can't just rip them out, can I? Will I have to take apart the book?

Also, there are some papers glued on the insides of the covers. I want to take them off, but I don't want to peel them and rip up the paper. Will I have to risk ripping the paper or just find some new endpapers?

Also, this is sort of an OCD thing, but I just NEED to get rid of the paint on the pages! I'd like it to be completely "clean" on the outside.

(I've got more questions, but I can't seem to remember them right now...)

I'm not really sure how I'm not going to do this, so any help is appreciated!
2  COOKING / Dessert / A very much anticipated first cheesecake. (Lots of pictures.) on: June 27, 2008 09:07:45 AM
So, here's how the story goes. Every now and then I get an urge to go bake something. Sometimes I follow that urge, sometimes I ignore it.
Either way, everyone around me at the moment will know because I'll start to flip through recipe books for something to make. And because I'm such a dessert person, no one can wait till I get to the kitchen and make them all something sweet. Even if it turns out bad, which is most of the time... lol.
So, this time, I decided "Why don't I try making a cheesecake?"
So that's what I did. After an astonishingly large amount of cream cheese, barely enough sour cream, and a gloopy can of strawberry pie filling, here was the result.

Innocent looking heart attack in a pan.

I forgot to loosen it from the sides. It cracked.

After the gloopy strawberry filling.

My wonderful slice.

A side view.

While I really enjoyed eating it, I don't know if I'll ever make it again. It was fairly simple, and everyone at home loved it. They loved it so much I had to salvage it and put it in the freezer for later, when I'm too lazy to bake.  Grin

I apologize if the pictures are too big... Undecided
3  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Introduce Yourself / Lurker gone Poster... wait, does that make sense? on: June 17, 2008 05:26:56 AM

Yes, yes, the subject of this topic explains all.
I'm a long time lurker of Craftster, and now that summer is here I've had a chance to relax a bit, so I thought I might take advantage of it and start crafting more! And with crafting comes posting.

I've discovered some new sewing and crafting type stores in my area, too, which is a pleasant surprise because I'd about lost hope of finding any. So I shall head off to those stores and explore my crafting passion.

I love making things, and I can (sort-of) knit and crochet. I'm learning to sew now, though, so hopefully that will aid me in my craftiness. I absolutely love baking (making desserts to be exact.) I like making functional things... in general.

Hopefully, my transition from lurker to poster will only be the beginning of a transformation from mere poster... to craftabulousness. Chyeahhh.
