1  The witch Cassandra in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Tailte on: November 10, 2012 03:30:50 PM
My most recent doll, Cassandra, is a witch. I had a lot of fun making her.

Her legs and bodice are painted, skirt and bloomers are handsewn. Her hat is made out of craft foam which I then painted. There are many, many beads which where handstitched on which took HOURS AND HOURS! But I think it was well worth the effort.

Her face was embroidered.

Her freckles were drawn on with a sepia prismacolour pen and her cheeks were coloured with real blush. And her hair was done using the wig cap method. Pattern from here: http://byhookbyhand.blogspot.com.au/2010/04/prairie-flowers-original-cloth-doll.html

2  Dreaded superheroes in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Tailte on: June 08, 2012 10:26:54 PM

Nine months ago I started making a couple of dolls for my friend and my cousin, who are in love and have been together almost four years! Anyway, I had intended them to be last year's christmas pressie, but I had a loooong break because I wasn't happy with dreadlockboy. I should add that these dolls, dreadlock boy and girl are based on the superhero characters they made up based on themselves. Yes, they're awesome like that. Cheesy

Onto pictures!

I had lots of trouble figuring out dreadlock boy's hair, but I got there in the end.

I'm really pleased with how the writing on the capes came out. Hand embroidered freehand. Cheesy

I'm really excited to give it to them.

The pattern I used is my own.

Thanks for looking!

3  A shawl and a shrug (pic heavy) in Knitting: Completed Projects by Tailte on: December 03, 2011 03:57:27 PM
My first *finished* knitting projects.

I found some gorgeous 50% mohair 50% acrylic wool on sale, its lovely, I adore it. Cheesy I thought it make a nice shawl, and it did!

The pattern I used was really simple, and elegant. I used this one: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/basic-triangle-shawl

I also made a shrug/cropped jumper thing. I really like it and have got a few compliments on it.

The sleeves look a bit a funny, but I assure you that's only because there a no arms in them. Tongue

I was really unsure about how the yarn would look once knit up, but I really like how it turned out, its so soft. It's 70% wool 30% acrylic.

I'm a new knitter, so any feedback is much appreciated. Thanks for looking!

4  What flower is this? in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions by Tailte on: October 20, 2011 05:36:56 PM

We have a very pretty flower in our garden, it's a little bit orchid like. It's a shrub.

Does anyone know what it is?

5  What plant it this? in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions by Tailte on: October 07, 2011 07:11:25 PM

Down the back steps, we have a clearing with these plants growing in it. It smells exactly like jasmine, but my Dad says it's not jasmine. And the flower looks like a pea, but it's covered in thorns. Can anyone help?

6  Little Lizzie in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Tailte on: September 08, 2011 06:36:05 PM

Lizzie is a bit photo shy, it took me a little while to coax her out of the shadows..

..And once I did I noticed she'd forgot to comb her fringe!

Here she is with her fringe combed. I thinks she's endearingly sweet.  Cheesy

I made her a hat. She loves it so much she refuses to take it off.

Close up off her skirt.

I had lots of fun making this doll. She's made from my own pattern. Thanks for looking!

7  Just hangin' around bein' skulls in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by Tailte on: June 05, 2011 05:37:49 PM

This was my first Amigurumi, and I'm really happy with how they turned out.

I made them for a friend who has moved interstate. I hope she likes them as much as I do. I used this pattern: http://freeamigurumi.blogspot.com/2008/10/another-little-skull.html

Thanks for looking!

8  What can I do with this fabric? in Clothing: Discussion and Questions by Tailte on: May 27, 2011 07:22:56 PM
A couple of years ago I bought this bright green fabric from an op-shop:

Yes, it really is that green.

I'm pretty sure it's wool, but I could be wrong. It's 135cm x 172cm and I have NO idea what to with it. Any thoughts?

9  Another felt doll. in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Tailte on: May 02, 2011 12:11:01 AM

A little while ago I made this doll: https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=377266.0 I really enjoyed making her so I decided to make another for my mum.

I'm really pleased with how her dress came out, though hand embroidery takes me a long time.

The flower centres are paper beads I made an painted.

10  Cute little felt doll in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Tailte on: April 01, 2011 11:22:15 PM

I'd been wanting to work with felt for ages, and when I saw this: http://www.purlbee.com/hand-sewn-felt-dolls/ I couldn't resist buying some felt and making one.

While I was making her we had quite a love/hate relationship, but now that she's finished I'm very pleased with how she turned out.

The face was the hardest part. While it looks simple enough it took me a lot of trying and retrying to get it right.

Skirt detail. The blossom is a paper bead that I made and painted.

Thanks for looking!  Smiley
