2  Classic White Bread +tips for bread maker? in Recipes and Cooking Tips by OmJane on: January 14, 2009 08:34:21 PM

Hello everyone!
so this was first attempt at making bread... with a bread machine... without a manual.
i just found a simple recipe and went with it. it didnt turn out too bad. and i certainly will be making my own bread more often from now on.

1 cup Warm Water
4 teaspoons oil
1 tablespoon sugar
1 teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon dry milk
3 cups Bread Flour
1 tablespoon active dry yeast

1. Add measured ingredients to pan, yeast last
2. Select size, crust color
3. Remove carefully, let cool.

So, since making this bread, Ive made an attempt at cinnamon raision bread, but that ended up tasting rather... airy? i cant quite describe it. perhaps almost rancid? i dont know what could have caused this. all of my ingredients seem to be of good quality. perhaps it had too much salt, or the wrong flour (i used all purpose)?

and also, i was wondering, would using all purpose flour, as opposed to bread flour make a really big difference?
and can anyone recommend a fool proof recipe for bread machine bread, that uses all purpose?
im open to any suggestions. especially on simple recipes. thanks everyone!

I just googled octopus stencil, found this cool one, but it was a photograph of it stenciled onto cement. so i photo-shopped it up. the shirt is also a recon... that i ended up making a tad small. oh and yes i know that color isnt exactly "made" for me. ugh. but i love the octo...  Cheesy

comments and the like are welcome.

8  octopus painting (Warning!!! will make your eyes do funny things.) in More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works by OmJane on: August 01, 2008 03:19:28 AM
the quality of this photo, (and shrinkage) does not do this justice. its originally 10x10. its suffered some water damage due to a bad winter in my instructors office (building flooded) and she had these photos taken afterwards. also, my fault for resizing it in mspaint and compromising the image quality. eep. Embarrassed

this is acrylic goache on bristol board. it was a project for my color and design course, back in the fall of 06.
the assignment was complimentary colors, with added tones and shades or whatever to create a vibrating effect. inspired by... ARGH, i cant remember?!?! you know... that guy who does the interlocking fish and birds and whatnot? starts with a.... help me out, people  Huh

9  Deadpool Purse in Stenciling: Completed Projects by OmJane on: August 01, 2008 02:58:29 AM
This bag was made for the Superhero/Comics swap, for my wonderful swap partner Altair.
and my VERY FIRST experience stenciling anything. i probably should have started with something a bit simpler. drafting out the stencil and cutting it, took ages. lots of trial and error. and especially the importance of adding breaks.

Its the character Deadpool, stenciled, and hand painted with freezer paper, acrylic paint and fabric medium on cotton. i also made the bag! the quote is just a scrap, cut to shape, and ironed with heat-n-bond. lettering was carefully traced.

this stencil took FOREVER, and i wish i had a better camera so that you could read the quote clearly. its really quite fabulous: "You just killed the nice deranged chick from the juice bar that I was gonna score with someday maybe!"

oh and a link to the original...

10  Typewriter (stencil included!) in Stenciling: Completed Projects by OmJane on: August 01, 2008 01:46:25 AM
I made this stencil from an image i googled.
i seem to have saved over the original, but oh well.

its orange craft paint with fabric medium. stenciled with freezer paper and an immense amount of patience, on a brown tee shirt.

please excuse the pet hair, and poor photo quality. this is a photo, before wash, but after wear Undecided afterwards the stencil cracked. i think i put WAY too many layers of paint. it looked screen printed at first... than it didnt anymore.  Sad

close up... in grey scale to minimize glare and poor photo quality... eep.
