1  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Midori/Fauxdori Traveler's Notebook Swap? on: June 30, 2015 11:53:09 PM
My wife and I just booked our trip to Iceland, along with a trip out to Montana, and we have a crapload of stuff from Hawaii that needs to be journaled. I NEED A TRAVEL NOTEBOOK!

Anyone interested in swapping? I figured we could create a fauxdori for our partner and then include 2-3 books along with it. The crafting time would be extra long because 1) I'm about to move into my very first house! and 2) it takes a bit to make journals.

2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Cheap Tea Boxes? on: October 31, 2013 07:13:42 PM
This Christmas I am going to be creating soap sampler packs for my friends and family and I was wanting to package them in cheap tea boxes. I've seen mentions around the internet that a place in Canada carries unfinished wood ones for around a buck, but I can't find them here in the US. Any ideas?
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / New or Rediscovering Paganism Swap? on: November 19, 2011 07:52:53 PM
I know there are some Wiccan/Pagan swaps that go down, but I was wondering if anyone would be interested in a beginner's Wiccan or Pagan swap. After a 3 year hiatus, I've decided to rediscover paganism and would like some basic accessories to get me in tha mood. I'm thinking a 3-5 point swap, with the requirements depending on partners preference.
4  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Discussion and Questions / Upper Eyelid Puffiness Remedies? on: August 25, 2011 02:24:17 PM
I've tried increasing my water (to 22 cups a day!), cold spoons, tea bags, limiting sodium, and I'm sure other stuff, but lately my eyes have been super puffy. Any H&B secrets you all know to pass along?
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Indoor Aquaponics? on: July 03, 2011 08:12:38 PM
So I've recently ventured into urban farming and I absolutely love it. I have 2 small raised beds and 1 large raised bed so far (with more in the plans!). I've also been thinking about the winter and how to get by with gardening during it. I recently stumbled across this little device and my gears started turning:

I am considering a little experiment this winter of garage aquaponics but I'm not sure if the investment would be worth it.

So, anyone else interested in small time indoor aquaponics? Has anyone conquered it?
6  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Phizzychick's Bees... in polymer! on: June 26, 2011 06:25:10 PM
Have you seen Phizzychick's adorable paper bees? Well, I decided I needed some to live in my garden. I used up a ton of my scrap polymer clay and used some vintage music paper on the wings. I sealed the little guys with some mod podge (not sure how that will work with the Portland rain - we'll see).

7  Oregon / Oregon: Northwest / Portland Craftsters + Harry Potter = Yeeaaahhh on: June 24, 2011 09:26:39 PM
So we talked a bit in the Craftster Meet Up thread about meeting up for the final HP movie, and I didn't want to clog it up anymore over there, so I thought I'd start a separate thread.

What would be the best theater for us to meet up at? (I'm on the SE side - the Century 16 is closest to me)
Would anyone be interested in doing a 12am showing?
I'm dressing up for sure! You should toooo.
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Zetti Inspired Raised Garden Bed on: June 21, 2011 07:23:33 PM
I was inspired by AlwaysInspired's zetti chair that she posted last year (http://www.flickr.com/photos/alwaysinspired/4633639856/) and knew I had to make something in the same fashion.

My mom and I recently moved to Oregon from Phoenix (and before that, Tennessee) and rented a house where our landlord has sweetly given us permission to do whatever we'd like to the house. We first started out by building some raised beds in the backyard. They're easy, peasy 3x3 ft beds, but they ignited a little fire. We decided we NEEDED a larger bed in the front yard (6x3).

Long story short, we built a larger bed, added pickets (for stuff to vine up, but it didn't work) and I painted them. Everyone in the neighborhood loves them and our landlord hasn't evicted us for our loud garden art.

I'd like to have gotten a little more intricate with the designs, but we nailed the slats and planted the garden before I started painting, so it was a huge pain in the hiney to paint bent over.

Hope you enjoy!
