1  Re: Wee House Craftalong-Ongoing 2011-2012 in Craftalongs by lvl0rg4n on: March 11, 2012 03:46:59 PM
I haven't done much, but I wanted to share some changes that I started on preholidays. My sister moved out of my house so I now have my craft room back!! Hooray.

Here is where my wee house is at right now:

Instead of having the terrible leather bench, I made a window seat bookshelf instead. Now to fill it with goodies...

Here is the wall of drawings. I just printed some steampunk diagrams off and gave them a wash of brown paint to age them.

I need that castle for myself! Though I'd never get any other crafts done.

I made a little invention for my wee house. I decided to turn the first head I made for my doll into an oracle. Basically I put a goggle over the wonkiest eye and then connected a wire from the head to the transcriber. I don't know how it works, but that's part of the mystery of steampunk stuff.

I know there isn't much difference, but I'm excited to share my new shelves.

First, some tea cups. I am going to make some skillets or oven mitts or something to put on the other hooks.

Ahhhh my shelves!

The bits and bobbles are subject to change, but I'm loving the cluttered effect. I cut tongue depresser thingies into sections and then used cardboard for the supports. I tried to use wood, but it wasn't working, so trusty ole cardboard it was. That head was my original girl that I made - I'm going to turn her into a steam powered oracle. Fun, right?

I also moved the bed downstairs and lab upstairs. I couldn't figure out what to put in the rest of the large room, so logically I just rearranged. Now I'm not feeling so great about the circle bed and I may just scrap it.

I made a little shelf for the kitchen

Ignore the area above the fireplace.

Last post of the night, I promise.

I finished my kitchen sink for the most part. I still need to tame the water spout a little bit.. maybe use a hot knife to make the top smaller. Then I need to add door knobs.

I also took the back off of my couch and made it into a window seat. I had been planning on making an open bookshelf seat, but I may keep this.

Thank you! This is the best photo I have at the moment. It's a fabric swatch book with (squiggly) notes and matching button/ribbon info. Not that it's in any way readable... Cheesy

Aww I love it! I love how interactive it looks.

I found some pretty scrapbook paper that I used for a counter. I glued it on and put some Triple Thick on it. I also put Triple Thick in the sink. It's drying right now.

I also made a faucet with some water coming out of it. I used a q-tip for the faucet and little beads for the handles. I used hot glue for the water.

I also made some potion bottles.. because why not!

Because of the fireplace, I decided having a full stove would be too much in my living room/kitchen. I cut a Wheat Thins box up and started going crazy with the hot glue gun. So far, this is what I have:

I am still deciding on a counter top. I am thinking I may do a teenie tiny tile job with polymer clay, but I'm not sure - any ideas? I am also going to fill the sink with some Triple Thick and then drip some hot glue from the *future* faucet to make it look like it's filling with water.

I still also need to decide on some hardware. I am running to Michael's tomorrow to grab some beads, so maybe I'll find the perfect ones there. I am also making a shelf to go up above the sink/workspace.

I'd like to say that I appreciate this craftalong sooo much! I've never done any crafting as a group and it is so much fun. I want to thank you all for taking the time to also share your creations and ideas.

I love that bathroom too!

I made some books tonight. Apparently my wee person is as studious as Knicker's! Those little books take a while to make! I am going to print off some wall art this weekend to put in my study.

It's so nifty! I love how the straw and spool work so well and that spring looks great. What did you use for the ball again?
I want to see that watch face magnifying glass thing in the next room up close, too cool! I have a friend with literally boxes of watch parts, I should grab some from him...

I used 1 1/4 inch wooden balls with flat ends. They're advertised as doll heads.
Here's a not so spectacular close up of the watch thingie:

lvlOrg4n, I've been loving all your ideas. The watch magnifier, the round hanging bed, the fireplace, ect ect ect-that house so rocks.

Thank you!!
Well, I accomplished my goals today. I got a bunch done on my fireplace and I finished a stained glass window for the upstairs. My gal is so thankful that she has a window for when it rains.

Here's a mini tutorial (in words) if anyone wants to know how I did the windows:
- I searched for stained glass window template/design/pattern/drawing on Google Images
- I scaled it down in Word and printed it
- I bought some page protectors from the dollar store
- I originally tried to use puffy paint as the lead, but it was too thick
- After that didn't work, I squirted some puffy paint out and used a tooth pick to dab paint on all the lines. It took FOREVER, and I had to do it twice, but it was much thinner.
- I mixed a tiny bit of acrylic paint with a bunch of Mod Podge and used a tooth pick to dab the colored paint into the sections

Onto the pictures!
Here's the outside of the house:

A closeup:

Here's a view from the inside:

Here's an update on my fireplace. I still think it needs more, so I haven't glued it into the house yet.
