1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Quilted Camera Bag on: August 19, 2008 09:25:52 AM
Thanks!  I did use a red silk fabric that I had for the lining.  I used a regular weight batting for the padding.  You could use a high-loft batting to provide even more cushioning.  It's pretty sturdy and it keeps my camera from getting all scratched up.  Thanks for your comments!

I had a dilemma when I bought my new camera.  All camera cases/bags look like awful little backpacks for the camera.  To get around buying something hideous, I decided to make my own bag.  I am a quilter, so I made a cute little quilted bag.  I used Etsuko Furuya fabric for this.

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: My First Quilt on: August 16, 2008 09:06:01 AM
The quilt was in a show at The Williams Club in New York for 3 months this year.  Otherwise it just lives on a shelf.  I take it out to show my friends to get them to sign up for the class I took.  That way I can have more local quilting friends!

Here's a picture of it in the exhibition:

5  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / My First Quilt on: August 15, 2008 07:33:05 AM
Here are some images of my first quilt.  I took an introductory class at The City Quilter in NYC.  We all completed a four-block sampler quilt.  I used mostly Amy Butler fabric.  This quilt was made in April 2007.  Enjoy!

That is so cute.  I agree with the poster above, but I think that all the MOMS at preschool will be jealous!!!!
9  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: NYC Subway Quilt on: August 14, 2008 06:40:00 AM
All of the subway lines are actually quilted through.  I used a grey thread in my bobbin, so the quilting of the lines isn't evident from the back.    I used a really tight zig-zag stitch and traced light pencil lines that I drew on the map.  The map is appliqued on.  Here's a picture of the very beginning stages:

Thanks for your kind words!

Wow.  I think any child would be pleased to receive a colorful quilt.  What a great thing!
