2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Personal Kodiak Pancake DIY on: March 13, 2019 09:56:43 AM
On a recent trip to the grocery store I saw these little pre-packaged personal flapjack mixes

Since Ive been hooked on the Kodiak mix to make all kinds of things I have the Costco sized package in my pantry I decided to try to make my own.

I used 1/2 cup mix and 1/3 cup of water. You want all the mix to be wet but not watery. For some flavor I mixed in some Everything but the Bagel seasoning from Trader Joes and microwaved it for 1 minute. I found that if you let it sit for a few minutes prior to microwaving it fluffs up really nicely.

It was delish!!!
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Mermaid Unicorn and Pals 2 Swap? on: February 19, 2019 06:36:03 AM
I keep seeing tons of mermaid and unicorn stuff when I'm out and about and it makes me think of this swap. I had a ton of fun with it last year and want to do it again. I PM'd the original organizer but she hasn't replied so I'm throwing it out there. Any interest?

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Mixed Media Heart on: February 08, 2019 11:38:27 AM
This is the heart I made for my partner in the Mixed Media Valentine Swap. I painted a wooden heart then covered it with tissue paper. I used ink and stamps and a bit of texture paste on it. I found a little wooden word that I just covered in glitter and glued on. Finally, I used my Silhouette to cut out spirals that I rolled into flowers.
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / Altered Valentine Tin on: February 08, 2019 11:31:06 AM
My partner in the Winter Tin Swap requested a Valentines themed tin. I had a picture in my mind of a beautiful frilly vintage Valentine for the outside and it took three tries to get the crepe paper right. I had the metal heart and wooden word in my stash

The back is pretty simple

The inside turned out way differently than I originally planned. I wanted to make chenille kitties but I didnt like the way they looked so I scrapped them and changed it up.

8  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Healthy Kodiak PB & Banana Muffins on: January 26, 2019 07:20:49 AM
I have been trying to eat better, New Year and all that and am loving the Kodiak Cakes mix I found at Costco. Its a great healthy alternative to regular old pancake mix and you can do a ton of stuff with it. I decided to try making muffins. These have no sugar (other than the dark chocolate I mixed in but you can omit that) and tons of protein! I altered the original recipe a bit but will share both.

I used
2 cups Kodiak mix
1 tsp baking powder
1 Tbsp PBFit powder
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 mashed bananas
1/4 cup melted coconut oil
1/2 bar of dark chocolate chopped (optional)

Mix the dry ingredients together add the wet ingredients and mix. Fill prepped muffin tins 3/4 full and bake at 350 for 15-18 minutes

Here is the original recipe and I have seen a ton of recipes that use almond milk instead of regular milk
2 cups Kodiak mix
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp cinnamon
1 egg
1 cup milk
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 mashed bananas
1/4 cup melted coconut oil
Blueberries (optional)

Details of swap:

The idea of this swap is to alter one Altoid sized tin and fill it with goodies in a winter theme. If you are unable to find an actual Altoid tin, you may use a substitute, provided you keep the size to anything smaller than 4" x 4" (10 cm x 10 cm), and not thicker than 1" (3 cm). They don't have to be square or rectangular, I've seen some cool round tins. After the tin is decorated, you will fill the tin with tiny objects that also relate to the theme. The catch is that you can only send the decorated tin and whatever fits into it. Nothing else! The goodies do not have to be shipped inside the tin but should all have fit in it before you altered it!

Also:
You MUST post in this thread so we can communicate with you easily.  A simple "I'm in" will suffice.

2.  You MUST get a tracking number (US only), or it will be noted in your feedback.  If you are shipping internationally please keep your receipt and take note of the customs number.

3.  You MUST send on time and pm me and your partner with the DC number, OR communicate with me that you will be late. Do not make me have to ask you whether or not you have shipped. Poor communication will also be noted in your feedback.

4.  All PMs MUST have Winter tin swap in the subject line (I get a lot of PMs  and it gets confusing)

5.  Last but not least...NO FLAKING! Make sure you have the time to commit and do a good job for your partner.

10  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Hogwarts Letter on: December 14, 2018 10:55:23 AM

I made Mistress Jennie her own hand stitched Hogwarts letter for the Harry Potter Holiday Swap. I didnt snap a photo of the back but the felt is folded like an envelope and there is a button sewn on to represent the Hogwarts seal.

Im a muggle and had to send it through the mail but I included a friend to hold on to it and deliver once the box was opened
