11  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Sunset painting on: May 18, 2008 06:42:49 PM
It's a painting of a sunset in a forest. It's not very good but it's only my second acrylic painting. Let me know what you think, what you would do different, etc. Do you think its good enough to enter into the art contest at my school? The submission has to be nature themed.

12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Mother's Day Vase (5 pics) on: May 11, 2008 05:53:23 PM
I think this goes here, if not please feel free to tell me/and or move it.

Anyways, this is the vase that i painted for my mom for mothers day. My sister and I love making sure she always has fresh flowers in the house (usually we wait until they are a few days old cause then they go on sale and she doesn't get mad at us for spending money on her  Smiley )

This is the vase before I painted it (the penguin my sis painted is in the pic too)

After I painted it but before it was glazed and baked.

The front after glazing and baking, you can't see it very well since I took these pics with my phone but on the heart it says Mom

Some of the designs on the back

And here's the whole thing with the roses my Dad gave her for Mother's Day.

I love my mom!  Cheesy

Comments are welcome, this is my first craft that I've posted on here. I'm pretty excited
13  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Tying a quilt on: April 15, 2008 11:11:17 AM
I am getting ready to make my first quilt and I have a question about tying quilts.
What exactly does tying a quilt do? Is it necessary? and is it possible to do it without a quilting frame?

I would love to ask people in my family but nobody else quilts.  Roll Eyes

I appreciate any light you amazing quilters can shed on this subject. Thanks in advance!  Smiley
14  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Birthday Gift for Boss... on: April 07, 2008 12:22:48 PM
My boss's bday is coming up and I want to give her a gift but I'm completely clueless. This is my first job (I'm still in high school). I work at a Chocolate Store so the obvious gift of candy or chocolate is pretty much out.

My boss is really nice, she's the owner of the store. I'm not sure exactly how old she is but she has a two year old granddaughter and her youngest son just got married.

I don't know a lot about her hobbies, just that she likes to take photos and I think she might scrapbook but I'm not sure.

I want to make her something and I know how to do quite a few crafts (sewing, crochet, paint, etc.) I want to do something nice for her to let her know that I appreciate her but I really don't want it to look like I'm trying to "suck up to the boss". It's a small store so everyone knows everything that everyone else does while at work.  Roll Eyes

I'm so impressed by everything that you guys make on here and I'm hoping that your genius can help make up for my complete brain blockage.  Grin
