1  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Juno & Paulie, on: November 03, 2008 06:34:17 PM
This year my dear husband and I had a bit of a disagreement on what to be for Halloween, but since we went to two parties it worked out just fine.

For the first party we went as Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac

I was really pleased with how the bruises came out, here's a close up of my black eye

Then on Halloween night we dressed up as Juno McGuff & Paulie Bleeker

My husband came up with a clever way to make a pretty realistic belly here's a close up of the belly

He cut a basketball in half, then turned it inside out and pushed the air valve out so it stuck out like a belly button.  Then we stuffed it really full with polyfil and I mad a kind of belly band out of nude swimsuit fabric.  It was awesome.  The belly button thing really freaked people out.  I'm already thinking of things to do for next year.
2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / Annie Rich's Aug. 16th Wedding update *picture obese* on: August 24, 2008 06:28:16 PM
We just got back from our honeymoon and our photographer has posted a lot of the pictures from the wedding on his flickr. Here are some of my favorites and also some of the things I crafted for the wedding.  I didn't get a good picture of my favor boxes and I'm kind of sad about that, but oh well.

the rosemary boutonnieres I made for the groomsmen, fathers & grandfathers.  I also made corsages for the mothers, but no close ups of those yet

my centerpieces were just Mason Jars filled with baby's breath.  baby's breath is one of my favorite flowers and it was sooooo cheap.

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / vintage garter on: August 12, 2008 08:28:31 PM
So I never could find any garter that I liked.  I didn't want any of the cheesy satin ones they sell at the bridal shops.  So I found this awesome vintage fabric for a steal ($1/yard) and with the help of my very talented mother made my own.  Tell me what you think.

I'm going to use this one as my tossing garter and we are going to make another one to be the one I keep because we forgot to do a french hem to finish this one

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / 1st attempt at tissue poms on: July 30, 2008 10:11:06 PM
my first attempt at the martha tissue paper pom.  i'm pretty happy with it overall, but i'm not too crazy about the print.  i think i'll stick with solids for the rest.

p.s. please forgive the poor quality of the picture.

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / tablecloth question on: July 03, 2008 08:58:25 PM
i recently found out how much it costs to rent tablecloths and i nearly passed out  (12.50 ea. was the cheapest i've found) so i figured i'd ask on here if any one had any ideas about cheaper alternatives other than disposable tablecloths from party city.  i'd really like to have real tablecloths but i'm not willing to pay over $200 for them.  thanks for your help.

they are handmade, the invitations will be done in the next few days i think off all the things for the wedding i'm most excited about the invitations
i know i've seen these little magnets in several posts here and i always thought they were really cute and they're super easy to make (which is good because i've got to make 400)

the cake topper:

they are salt and pepper shakers that i got at the world's longest yard sale a few years ago.

7  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Weddings and Bridal Showers / wedding dress help on: April 14, 2008 06:02:01 AM
I'm getting married August 16th 2008, and I cannot find a dress that I like.  I don't want the traditional cupcake bridal gown, but I'm having trouble finding a place that makes less traditional wedding dresses.  I'm looking for a shorter dress like just below knee length to make dancing the night away comfortable and fun.

Any recommendations would be soooo appreciated.
