1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Home sweet...hot pink toilet? on: August 05, 2006 12:14:39 PM
I really wasn't sure where to put this, but I'm preeeetty stoked about it. My BFF/platonic girlfriend Hana and I were driving somewhere when what should we see along the side of the road but a disgusting, semi-broken, abandoned toilet? After a quick examination to determine whether we would get four kinds of chlamidia by simply touching it (answer: probably), we threw it in the back of my Subaru and took it up the parking lot of her complex.

I don't really have a before picture, this is the closest I can find:

Half a gallon of bleach & far too much of some sort of caramel-like unidentified substance later, we had our toilet. But we weren't going to use it as a toilet. It was to be much, much more than that.

Spraypainted with Kryolan. I'm not sure how she attatched the zebra, I think I fell asleep or something while she did that. We probably should have repaired the cracked lid thingy, but we're lazy stoners.

Now go make your own! There are abandoned toilets out there that need love!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Leopard print & lightning bolt messenger bag on: June 17, 2006 12:47:41 PM
It was my BFF!!"s birthday the other day, and I had been promising that I'd make her a bag for ages. This is the result:

(Sorry about the crappy pictures, I forgot to take some before I gave it to her and her camera hates life.)

DUH the zippers are functional pockets.

I was going to put in zippers, but I lost my foot. Uh, my zipper foot. Plus the outside pockets are for her spraypaint cans so zippers would just get in the way anyway.

3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / The very picture-heavy but possibly worth it imbroglio of rock n' roll purses. on: May 31, 2006 05:37:15 PM
I sew and sell my goods on eBay, both clothing and accessories, but purses are by far my favorite things to make. I've been accumulating pictures but have been too lazy to post them...anyway, in no particular order, here they are.

Sorry, I don't use patterns; all my fabric is from JoAnn; all of these have been sold unless it says otherways.

THIS IS A METRIC FUCK-TON OF PICTURES. If you have a slow connection but really want to look at all of them, go make yourself a sandwich or smoothie or something while they load.

Same purse but in different colors..(I made that hoodie too)

I kind of hate this purse but you can't win 'em all.

I love tinafish's hobo slouch tutorial!

This pusre was actually army green, my camera hates me.

That was the sweetest Television hoodie ever, I'm so pissed I sold it..

I made this bag in like two seconds, I think it looks like butt. Apparently everyone else does too because it didn't sell.

I heart handcufff bags. yeahhh!

Sorry about my douchebag sunglasses, I was too lazy to put on makeup

Embroidered that purdy little sailor gal...it's on felt

I friggin' LOVE this bag but I can't find the picture of it shut Sad

Another handcuff hobo bag...again, I can't find some of the pictures of it.

I sold this bag and was writing out the address to mail it when I realized that the girl who'd bought it was my best friend from elementary school. It's spraypainted PVC.

Another bag out of that weird brown fabric I'm not sure why I like.

Pllleeaeease comment/criticism/compliments!!

Also, this is currently my logo:

4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Jacket zippers...pretty ones on: April 09, 2006 12:58:00 PM
HOW DO I PUT A ZIPPER IN LIKE THIS?!? I've been staring at this jacket endlessly for months and still cannot figure it out. I've put plenty of zippers in jackets, but I'm not sure how they got the collar and hem bands (which are both seperate pieces of fabric sewn to the main body) to A) attatch to the serged pieces of fabric covering the "wrong" side of the zipper and B) cover the ends of the zipper. Any help?

5  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / First post..swallows and weeping willows (MADELBLUE TREE SWAP SPOILER!!!) on: February 18, 2006 09:03:12 PM
I started embroidering a couple months ago and decided I finally needed to show off some of my stuff. My camera takes terrible pictures, I apologize. The bags themselves are sewn from scratch; the embroidery turned out rather well I think, considering that I only embroider when I'm bored in class or tipsy.

My camera is poopy, so just mentally edit out the Ugly and try to enjoy the bags.

(Before sewing it on to the bag.)
The swallow is white felt embroidered with brown - I really like embroidering on felt, but as you can see I wasn't quite sure how to attach it to the tote. I sewed this on with my machine, but if anyone has any better ideas I'd love to hear them.

Feedback appreciated Smiley

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Stanley Kubrick swap, anyone? on: January 21, 2006 10:12:34 AM
Even if you don't recognize his name, you probably know his movies - A Clockwork Orange, Lolita, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, Dr. Strangelove, etc. Anyway, I think his movies are distinctive enough that they'd be perfect for craft swapping - anyone else interested? I was thinking that people could specify their favorite movies and be paired with people with similar taste.

I'm busy in a swap right now, but I'd probably be willing to organize in a couple weeks Smiley
