1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / My Best Friend's Wedding... Bag on: March 02, 2010 01:53:07 AM
Hi there,
I made this clutch hand bag for my best friend to use at her wedding over the weekend.
I used a shantung style satin for both the bag and flower and the pearl cluster button used on the flower is from my favourite local opshop.

It is just a simple fold over style that I adapted from a pattern I found in a burda magazine.

Thanks so much for looking,
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Help. Quilting with flannel on: January 02, 2010 02:12:00 AM
Hi there,
I am making a cot quilt out of flannel and am just at the stage where I am starting to quilt onto all the panels (in the ditch) and it is strecthing and warping and puckering.
I am using a walking foot. I have fiddled with the tension and changed the needle, I pinned the seam i am about ditch stitch. But it just wont sit right.

Does anyone have any more ideas?

Thanks in advance,
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Cutting into the "Good" fabric...(matroishka purse) on: August 14, 2009 11:53:03 PM
Do you buy fabric and then decide to keep it for "Good", you know that special little project that you want to make but just can't quite take that step to cut the fabric just in case something happens.....
Well I took a deep breathe and cut the good fabric. And thankfully I'm happy with the result.

I used the Half moon purse pattern from Keyka Lou.

Cute lining fabric and pocket. I used a big ol' button from my stash.
A note if you decide to make this bag, shorten the elastic closing loop by about half an inch. And remember to clip your curved seams.
Thanks for looking,
P.S. You should cut into some of your good fabric too!

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Fat Quarter Swap-with A difference! on: February 15, 2009 10:29:10 PM
Hey everyboby,
I saw someone post about a swap they did last year (not on craftster I don't think). And I thought ooooh I love that.
So, you decorate one (1) yard of cotton, quilting weight fabric. You can paint, stamp, dye etc,.
Then you cut it into fat quarters and send three off and keep one for yourself.
What do you think?
Anyone interested?
All suggestions will be welcomed.
6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Sun/Light Catcher, Mobile, or hangy thing swap on: January 29, 2009 02:59:15 AM
Hi there,
I am wondering if anyone would like to do a suncatcher, light catcher, mobile, window ornament or basically anything that can be hung from a window or the ceiling swap.....wow that was a mouthful! Grin

I am talking any medium: fabric, glass, beads, plastic, metal, found objects, clay etc.
I am not sure how many points this would be or if it needs a particular theme.

I know this is a bit vague so all input is welcome,
So what do you think? Anyone interested?
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Is any one doing an inchies swap soon? on: November 21, 2008 06:35:07 AM

Is anyone doing a swap soon?
I have only just started swapping so i don't think i could organise one on my own yet but i would be happy to co organise.
All feedback is appreciated,
8  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Strawberry and spinach Salad on: November 14, 2008 12:27:22 AM

A large handful of baby English spinach leaves (washed)
4-5 strawberries per person (thinly sliced)
Toasted slivered almonds (as much or as little as you like)
1 Tbsp of Balsamic Vinegar (per two people)
1 Tbsp of Olive Oil (per two people)

Put spinach and strawberries into a bowl. Toss lightly.
For dressing, place vinegar and oil in a small jar or container and put lid on tightly. Shake well so that the two combine.
Pour over spinach and strawberries and sprinkle with toasted almonds.
This salad is best made just before eating.

I hope you like it as much as I do.

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Hand stamped border trim TOTE bag on: October 26, 2008 05:14:03 PM
I recently made this bag for a friend who loves handbags, so what better to decorate it then with Handbag trim. (which is on the top edge of the pocket.)
I used a fabric ink pad to stamp the handbag image onto a cotton strip. I sewed a sequin in the middle of each little bag.
picture of the bag.

 close up of trim.
Thanks for having a look, all comments welocome Wink
