1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / 1930's daytime outfit? on: June 16, 2006 12:04:43 AM
Ack.  Help.

I'm going out with this guy on Sunday during the day.  He has a vintage 1930's car that we are going to be riding in.  At some point when we were setting up this date, i mentioned the fact that i like to play dress up.  He got super excited because he likes to play dress up too (which i love) and now he wants us to wear 1930's garb on our date, to match the car of course.  My problem is i'm much more of a 1950's type of girl and i have no idea what i should wear.  I don't even have any idea what women wore during the day back then.  Were skirts and shirts acceptable or was it mostly dresses? Any ideas for an outfit that i can whip up really quick?  Any patterns to point me too?  Any help would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks so much in advance!
2  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Triangle Top on: October 26, 2005 04:54:29 PM
I'm working on a triangle top for part of my halloween costume.  My problem is the tutorial I was going to workk off off no longer has pictures, and I'm a bit stuck on the basic shape and where to put the dart.  I already took apart a shirt, but it appears that it was sewn oddly and the dart looked like it was almost in the armpit.  It didn't end up being much help. Can anyone direct me to someplace that has a picture of the basic triangle shape and where to put the dart?  Thanks so much for your help!
3  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Earth/ Air/ Fire/ Water Costumes on: October 15, 2005 03:18:53 PM
Hi!  My roommates and I are dressing up as the elements this year.  We've got ideas for hair and little accessory items, but we need ideas on what to actually wear.  Any ideas? Thanks so much!

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Chainmail help! on: February 24, 2005 12:45:43 AM
Hi!  I'm attempting to teach myself how to make chainmail.  I'm working on a pair of earrings using the 4 in 1 pattern.  They are triangle shaped and look really good laying on the table.  But in the air and on my ear, the rings do not lay flat and my triangle get thinner and each line curves down a bit on the ends.  I hope that description made sense.  Is there any way to make the ring lay flat and not turn?  Thanks for your help!
6  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Valentine's Day / anti love songs mix? on: February 10, 2005 01:04:11 PM
Hi!  I'm making a v-day mix last minute for my mom who just got divorced.  I want it to be a sort of "you are single again yay!" mix rather than a sad mix.  Any ideas what to put on it, she likes older stuff and adult contemporary, and she LOVES Alicia Keys, zero 7, and stuff like that.

So far I've got:

I will survive- Gloria Gaynor
How did you get here- deborah cox
Its raining men- the weather girls

And i will probably put on something from loretta lynn

Any other suggestions?  Thanks!
7  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / My broken-hearted monster on: November 15, 2004 10:13:56 PM
so... I broke up with my boyfriend over the weekend and needed a project to keep my mind off of it, so after i saw all the monsters on here, I decided to make my own.  Here he is:

And here he is eating ice cream:

By the way, this is my first post on here.  I followed the directions to post pictures, so i hope it works.  My monster was actually made sans machine, since apparently i forget how to use my sewing machine.  That's all.  Thanks for looking!
