41  new favorite pants - Vogue 2907 in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by marieC on: May 01, 2008 04:04:31 PM
I bought this pattern a while ago, but was intimidated by the idea of pants.  I bought some cheap heavy but soft cotton and carefully followed the pattern and it really turned out great.  I learned alot about doing the welt pockets which really aren't that bad and the fly.  While they're not perfect they're super comfortable and I've been wearing them alot.  Definitely my new favorite pants.  Now maybe I'll make them as dressy pants using some nicer fabric.

Next time I'll be better about catching those little triangle at the edges of the welt pockets while sewing the pocket.

42  bubble hem dress, McCall's 5317 in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by marieC on: May 01, 2008 03:57:47 PM
I made this dress before Easter but have taken an age to post it.  I did the skirt portion twice because while the knit has pleny of give, the lining doesn't and when I sewed it all to the waist band I couldn't get the thing to stretch open to get over my shoulders.  I ended up only sewing the lining across the front and back of the waist band leaving about four inches loose on either side.  The waist band stretches on the sides to allow me to put it on.  The instructions don't address this issue and if I made the band big enough to get over my shoulders without stretching the whole thing would look pretty messy.  Nevertheless, I really like the dress.

43  summer skirt -burda 8090 in Clothing: Completed Projects: General by marieC on: March 25, 2008 03:47:16 PM
I finished this skirt a few days ago and was pretty happy with it.  It's the Burda 8090 pattern from their online set of free patterns, which is a fast skirt once you go through all the printing out and taping up of the pattern (free has to have a catch).  I added a pocket because I was influenced by the pocket loving crafters on the board.
