So, do you put it together with an allen wrench or what? Cheesy

Wow, thanks again, that's definitely a load off my mind! Grin
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Sewing pattern for cloche hats? on: April 18, 2008 11:04:53 PM
I'm looking for a pattern for a cloche hat, that isn't knitting or crocheting. I want to sew one. Does anyone know of a pattern I can use?

5  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Re: "Stabilizer strip"? on: April 18, 2008 01:05:45 PM
Yeah, it's along a zipper. It's a thick home decorator fabric, though, so I'm not sure why the instructions called for a stabilizer strip. Huh

Thank you for your help!! Cheesy

I'm surprised this hasn't already been suggested, but... "Sew Everything Workshop," by Diana Rupp. It's excellent for a beginner, or for someone who just couldn't get good at sewing. Has all the basics (including how to work a machine, with practice exercises!), and even comes with some patterns that you learn how to alter so they'll fit you. It's a great book, and I paid about $17 for it on Amazon.

Haha, no I never thought of doing that, but my flat iron is like one of my most important possessions, so I'd be afraid of using it for something other than my hair.
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / "Stabilizer strip"? on: April 17, 2008 06:12:45 PM
Hey, everyone. I'm sorry if this is kind of a dumb question, but I'm making a purse (my first purse, no less) and the instructions say to use a "stablizer strip"-- what is that??

I thought maybe it was taking permanent stabilizer and cutting it into a strip, but I'm not sure. I also only have tear-away. Undecided

I briefly thought that perhaps you just take a strip of your fabric and stitch it on to stabilize, but that's probably incorrect.

Any help would be totally appreciated! Kiss
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Panda hoodie? (with 8 pictures) on: April 16, 2008 02:11:13 AM
It looks cute! I haven't attempted a hoodie yet. More like, I haven't cut out the pieces yet. I'm nervous about screwing it up, haha.
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: The Jacket of Sherlock Homes Style on: April 02, 2008 11:44:43 PM
It's a little Modern-Day Sherlock, yes, but that's not a bad thing! Grin

My only thing is that I don't know how I feel about the jacket over long sleeves. Maybe if they were tight long sleeves, like on a stretchy v-neck shirt, it'd be nice, but for some reason that shirt underneath it just doesn't look right to me.

Still, you did a good job, I love it. Smiley
