33  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Steak in the oven on: June 02, 2005 08:42:59 AM
Sometime back, on one of the cooking show (Food Network) One of the chefs seared a steak in a cast iron frying pan, then put it in the oven to finish cooking it.  Does any one remember which chef? Was it Elton Brown, Bobby Flay or Tyler Florance?  I'm sure I can find the recipe I want if I can narrow down my search.  There are over 800 steak recipes on the Food Network.

I got the Spring INKnitter the other day. there is a peaked hat pattern that I'm going to try. I went to the designers web site to order the Lycra it calls for.  I received the cone of Lycra today, and enclosed was a personal note thanking me for my order.

36  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Stitch And BOTCH / One quart should be enough, right? on: April 28, 2005 11:44:08 AM
I bought this house two years ago.  I finally got around to repainting the bathroom.  My bathroom is actually 2 rooms, the first half is the vanity, and the other part is the stool and tub.  That is the part I decided to paint.  It's only 6' X 5'.  So I bought a quart of pale pink paint.  I ran out before I finished, and the Blue is showing through.

Wow! The weather.  Two weeks ago, St Paddy's week, I was running around in my down parka.  This week, Easter week, I've been out in shirt sleeves, raking the mulch off my flower beds.  A lot of my perennnials have started coming up!

40  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Veggie Garden on: February 26, 2005 05:51:51 PM
I've always had a vegetable garden, except for 2 years ago.  We accepted an offer on our place the beginning of May, then moved in late June.  Last year, I had a patch tilled in my new yard.  I had the worst garden ever.  All of my tomato's wilted and died.  My pepers didn't wilt, but they didn't produce either.  My cukes, melons and squash rotted, as did the broccoli and beans.  My neighbor said the ground was poisoned by a black walnut tree that grows about 20' away, but not my yard, or his.  Has anyone heard of this before?
I'm debating wheather to have a different spot tilled, or to just forget the whole thing and just grow a couple of tomato's in a pot.
