22  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / I have brain freeze on: September 05, 2005 11:34:48 AM
I feel foolish asking this, and I know I'm going to feel like an even bigger fool when I get an answer.  I was just looking at rufflers at  www.clotilde.com  She has 2, a low shank for $16.98 (says For center needle position machines only. Not for computer models)  and a universal Snap-on for $39.98  give brands of machines it will work on, but no warning.  Can this one be used on a computerized machine or not?  What's going on?  They look identical

27  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Castor Beans, Don't Work on: August 14, 2005 09:54:25 AM
The sap in the roots of castor beans, are supposed to smell bad to moles, and drive them away.

There's the castor bean plant, next to my propane tank.  See the dead grass?  That's the mole tunnels.  The creature sitting there is not a mole.
28  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Can someone help a grandma, Please? on: August 05, 2005 06:49:33 AM
I consider myself to be an advanced knitter.  My 6 year old granddaughter wants me to teach her to knit.  She'll be 7 in October.  I've held her in my lap, and held her tiny little hands.  All is good, until she tries on her own.  Am I missing something?  Have any of you taught a child to knit?  Does anyone have any tip to share?
29  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects / Butterfly Weed: or Adventures with the Monarchs on: July 28, 2005 10:36:26 AM
I just have to show off the butterfly weed I planted last year.  This year it's over 5 ft tall.  My granddaughter and I raise monarch caterpillars.

This is Christina,  she just found one.

Aug 9  My butterfly weed is just about done flowering, so now I'm going to have these lovely pods for fall decorations.

Last year we raised our caterpillars in jars covered with cheese cloth.  This year I built them a house.

Here they are having lunch

Aug 11  At 10:00 this morning

At 2:30 this afternoon

Aug 17  2:30 p.m.  Our first Monarch butterfly

Aug 29;  The Monarch caterpillars have pretty much finished off my butterfly weed

Here's another angle, to show off the pretty spring I have in my back yard

Here are a bunch more pupa

And the last of the caterpillars, about to form pupa

Two newly emerged monarchs

I have  lovely pictures of my DGD's arm covered with butterflies, but my camera was accidentally switched to video.  If the photo op presents itself again, I will post it.
Not quite the photo op I was looking for, but it is kinda cute, with a butterfly on her head

Aug 31;  Got a better photo op

I just added a picture of a tool to "My Gallery" over in picture hosting.  And it replaced some of my other pictures.  What happened, and how do I fix it?
