3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Kids room wall art on: May 30, 2011 12:45:33 PM
i'm hoping someone on here can help me...
we are redoing my son's room in a disney cars theme-his choice.  i have the bedding and valance taken car of, but no ideas for his walls.  right now, his room has a train theme, and i have embroidered the train from donald crews book, freight train and placed it in 3 frames in ds's room.  i want to still use the 3 frames, or at least put 3 pictures up to utilize the 3 nails in the wall.  the frames are 10x10.
i was thinking of decopauging pictures of the cars onto canvas and hanging that, but i can't find good quality pictures that i like.  if push comes to shove, i'm going to buy a 2011 wall calendar and use those pics, but they aren't my ideal.
please share any ideas or tips you may have-i'll be anxiously awaiting!!
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / Need some help figuring out how to do this... on: April 15, 2011 12:37:27 PM
Ok, hopefully I can try to explain myself here.  I want to make a canvas bag that is rectangular (almost like a messenger bag, but without the flap) with an adjustable strap.  I want to top to be flat with a zipper.  Like, picture a 3 dimensional rectangle (6 sides) and the top is split by a zipper.  I have no idea how to do a zipper like that!!  I guess it's kind of like a recessed zipper, but without being recessed, if that makes any sense.  I know how to do a zippered bag, but not anything that has a depth like that.  Has anyone ever seen anything like this or know what it is called?  Any help would be appreciated!!

Thanks  Grin

6  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Discussion and Questions / reconstructing an infant creeper to a toddler shirt on: August 20, 2010 05:16:12 AM
does anyone have any ideas on how to do this?  i was at target last night where they had the most awesome shirt for my little guy.  it was a Linus shirt (from Peanuts), but just his body, so that when you're little guy wears it, it's his head on Linus' body!!  now since my son's name is, in fact, Linus (not bc of Peanuts), i couldn't pass it up, but he's a 2T and the largest size was 9 months  Angry  but i bought it anyway
i am desperate to try and figure out how to recon this, but i'm new to sewing clothes.  any ideas?
7  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Fabric covered buttons into bobby pins on: March 09, 2010 07:58:49 AM
What type of glue/bobby pins do I use for these?  I tried using regular bobby pins with e6000 and it didn't work.  if i kind of fiddled with the button a little, it came off the pin.  I'm just making them for myself and my daughter, so i really don't want to have to order the special bobby pins with the flat head.
These are what I'm trying to make:

Thanks for your help!!

9  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Help me figure out how to do this, PLEASE!! on: August 18, 2009 01:17:45 PM
I got this brainstorm last night.  I want to make my daughter a little wallet/picture holder thing to take in her backpack when she starts kindergarten in a few weeks.  I want it shaped like my hand (ala "The Kissing Hand"), but smaller, with small clear vinyl "windows" in the palm, to put pictures of my husband, my son and myself.  Just a little something she can keep in her backpack and take out when she feels lonely.  Any ideas of what type of fabric I should use?  Cotton?  I would like the pages to be somewhat stiff and sturdy and I was planning on just binding it with a small binder/key ring or something like that.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Marble Pendant Question... on: July 29, 2009 01:11:25 PM
Anyone know what this is on the back of this necklace?

I love the way it looks and would like to recreate it.  The listing says it's sealed with resin, but I don't know what that is or how to do it.  Suggestions appreciated.  Thanks!!
