thanks so much for the tute! i think i'm going to make one in black, but i was wondering- do you have to make it with jeans that fit you? i was going to make it with jeans that are far too large, but then i was looking at the tute, and it seems like that'd mess up the skirt somehow. thoughts? thanks in advance!

no its definitely better to make it with jeans that are way too large, as that gives u more material. it wont mess up the skirt, as long as you make sure to make that the pockets are in the right places (not sure if that makes sense, but you have to take in both the back and front seams of the skirt)

omfg....i absolutely love it. i want one.did you draft your own pattern or find it online?

i based the pattern very vaguely on a corset i already had, but mostly i just made it all up, and then adapted it as I sewed! Hence it sticks out a little too much at the bottom but its not very noticable thankfully Smiley

Hi all!!
Saw a gorgeous pinstripe underbust corset in the shops the other day, and after mooning over it for a while i realised that I couldnt afford it. (200euros eep!!) So instead I resolved to make my own, which cost about 10euros for materials and 10hours of slavelabour!!:) And got it finished that very day...without any unfortunate incidents this time, like me pinning it to myself, as happened with my previous corsetry attempt!

here it is worn over a top for decency!

And modelled by my pillow..

The lace at the top isnt supposed to stick out at the sides, i think i must have sewed it on a little oddly! Also It was originally just supposed to be a plain underbust but then i decided to add odd sort of half-cups... and the lace was a wacky idea i had at 2am, after more than 9 hours of sewing in one day!!

and the back..

Very pretty!  I have tip for you.  Any time you are going to work with this kind of fabric, run some Fray-Chek along all the cut edges.  This will keep them from fraying while you work with it.  Also they have this lacy hem-tap stuff that you can put over the seams inside (if they will be exposed) that covers them up and protects them even more after the piece is done.  HTH!

what a good idea! a small question, where would i be able to get some of this stuff, only online or would a sewing shop have it?
