1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / 80's ugly hutch to fabulous modern hutch in one afternoon! on: August 09, 2009 04:16:25 AM
My brother-in-law frequently comes across discarded furniture.  The other day he found this hutch and asked if we would like it.  It was pretty darn ugly so hubby and I decided to give it a makeover.  Smiley

We removed some of the decorative wood, painted it, and frosted the glass.  I think it came out pretty awesome!

2  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / Onesies!!! on: July 06, 2009 05:40:45 PM
My sis recently had a gorgeous little boy and I decided to attempt to make him some onesies.  I tie dyed a few and stenciled all of them.  I had stenciled before but this time I used freezer paper and WOW!!!!  SOOOOOO much easier!!  I also used an exacto knife and that was a life saver.  There is no way i could have cut out Bob Marley any other way.  Anyhooo...here they are.  Comment/critics welcome!

"Dirty Hippie" (you can read it better in person)

3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Shoe Recon Swap?? on: January 27, 2009 01:44:14 PM
Hey there Smiley
Anyone interested in a shoe recon swap?
You would buy the shoes of your liking (nothing expensive of course), send them to your partner, revamp them, and then send them back.  Of course, there would be extra time alloted for all the sending.
Good idea?  Bad idea?  Suggestions?  I am willing to organize it.
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Mega-giant boppy-type thing on: December 30, 2008 10:23:36 AM
My mother got me a yard of some wolf fleece fabric to make something for my classroom (our school mascot is a wolf) so I decided to make a cushion for our reading area.  The kids love the cushions I have there already and always argue over who gets to use them  so I decided to make a two person boppy-like cushion.
I just free cut it, sewed it up, and stuffed it.  It's pretty comfy and I think my kids will enjoy it.  God knows, my son did!

5  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Halloween tree on: November 01, 2008 04:38:49 AM
A few years ago I entered a contest at the bead store that I shop at.  The only rule was that you had to use these orange and yellow beads.  They looked like flowers to me so I decided to make a little graveyard scene.
I used green wire (I wish I had used black) and black, orange, and clear seed beads to form a sparse looking, spooky tree.  It took me WEEKS to spin all the wire by hand!!  Then, I mounted it on a flower pot base, lined that with reindeer grass, cut foam graves, and used the contest-required beads to make little bouquets for the fake dead.  I threw a few skulls in there, too.  I came in 3rd place.   Grin

6  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / A day late and a dollar short...Haunted House flower pot! on: November 01, 2008 04:27:14 AM
I've been meaning to post this for weeks but better late than never, right??   Undecided

Anyhoo...I saw something similiar in Michaels a few years ago and thought I could recreate it.  Not to shabby...

Sorry about the flash and darkness.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Gigantic Work Shirt + Novice Sewing Skills= Awesome New Shirt!! on: October 05, 2008 07:20:47 AM
On Monday, I had a staff meeting at the school I teach at.  We always do "door prizes" so that the meeting is more fun and I won a size 3x school t-shirt.   Cheesy

I just started sewing so I thought I would try to reconstruct it into something I would actually wear and get some more practice with my skills.  I am really happy with the way it turned out!!  Comments/suggestions??

Action shot!  Ignore the glasses, squinty eyes, and lack of make-up.
8  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / "Decorate a room in my house" swap?? on: September 11, 2008 02:58:59 PM
Would anyone be interested in participating in a swap where you got stuff for a room in your house???

I have a shiny new craft room (70's vibe going on) and no decor to speak of.  Isn't that sad??  I am sure a bunch of you have rooms in your house that need a little perking up in the way of wall decor or maybe some throw pillows...whatever.

Let me know what you think!!!

9  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / "Dragon" name painting... on: August 10, 2008 01:25:28 PM
My son's room got a cool dragon make-over this weekend:  https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=262297.msg2941678#msg2941678
Today I remembered that I had an old 12x36 canvas laying around so I painted his name and added a little dragon to the letter A.  This dragon is a little more "cartoony" than the one on his mural but he picked it out and likes it so it's all good to me.
I drew everything free-hand and then painted it all with metalic paints.  After I was done I didn't like that the dragon wasn't popping so I outlined him in black.  Enjoy...   Grin Sorry about the flash glare but the colors were not true to life without it.

Close up...

10  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Dragon mural...obese with pics!!! on: August 09, 2008 04:12:44 PM
My 6 year old LOVES dragons and wanted a "dragon room" so we decided to paint a mural for him today.  My mother and I drew and painted the dragon and my husband airbrushed all the fine little details.  I think it kicks major booty and so does my son.  Enjoy!
Hubby airbrushing~

Aidan LOVES it!

Aidan wanted to be "barbequed" by his new dragon~
