1  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / How to make roll up ballet pumps? on: November 06, 2010 06:46:55 PM
Hi guys

I wanted to make copies of these little roll-up pumps you take out with you so that you can walk home after a night in stilettos:

Can anyone suggest how to go about it?

Thanks in advance
2  CLOTHING / Shoes: Discussion and Questions / How to customise fake uggs? on: November 06, 2010 06:41:03 PM

I have just bought some black fake uggs and in view that they are clearly not uggs anyway, thought I may as well customise them.

Can anyone suggest what materials I could use.

I thought maybe leather or felt cut out shapes? But how would I stick them on?

Thanks in advance

3  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Aluminium cartridges/capsules for coffee machine on: July 24, 2009 03:03:01 PM

My boyfriend has a coffee machine that uses capsules like this:

I'm horrified at the waste so we have started gathering them up and cleaning them out. I thought of maybe making a load of holes in them and using them as fairy light shades . . . some kind of crazy recycled outfit for a festival . . . .and that's about it!
4  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / IDeas for World Malaria Day? on: March 18, 2009 05:31:46 PM
Hi guys!

I'm organising a fundraiser at work for World Malaria Day.

Any days for bits-and-bobs we can sell, preferably with a tenuous link to malaria!
5  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Top from My Bloody Valentine 3D? on: March 18, 2009 05:23:55 PM
Hi all,

I am wondering if anyone has found any patterns for this type of top? The girl wears it in My Bloody Valentine. You can see it on the link below but it's not very clear. Hopefully some of you have seen the movie.

Basically it is a sort of gypsy top but the shoulder areas are made from very fine lacy crochet? Any ideas welcome! Thanks in advance!

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / ~Lovely Tea Wallet with link to Tute on: January 11, 2009 02:54:48 PM
I made two lovely tea wallets from this tutorial, http://blog.christyscreations.com/?p=482 one of which I gave as a gift, and the one below, which I kept:

I also had one failed attempt. It went wrong because I used the denim both inside and out, plus interfacing. This made it too bulky so it was a mess when I turned it right way round, but I learnt a lot from those few scraps of material.

All in all the tutorial is super easy to follow and I am really grateful to Christy for posting it!

7  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Nosferatu From Creepy Cute Crochet on: January 11, 2009 02:45:51 PM

This is the first crochet project of any significance I have ever done Grin.

He's from the super book Creepy Cute Crochet http://www.amazon.com/dp/1594742324?tag=needle-20&camp=14573&creative=327641&linkCode=as1&creativeASIN=1594742324&adid=0QA5AV3DNKWWGD2AJ6YB&

I made him for my botfriend because we watched Nosferatu at a festival we went to last year. The only ammendment I made is to add the two tiny drops of blood from the right fang!

The buttons were made from polymer clay as the book advises, glued on with PVA, and are so effective, I will not make eyes from anything else now!
8  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Itself / Signatures (Mods feel free to intervene) on: January 11, 2009 02:28:33 AM
Hi all,

Not sure if this is the place to ask, but i can't seem to work out how you guys all put the links to your Etsy on the signature.

Really sorry if this is obvious!

Thanks for your help.

9  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Help Deciphering a Pattern - Any Comments Welcome! on: December 09, 2008 09:54:29 AM
Hi Guys!

I would really appreciate some help with this.  I have just tried to make this for a friend:

Where I went wrong is after row 16 where it says to keep increasing to row 50. . . so I thought following the sequence it seemed to be setting you would get:

Row 17: (yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k4, k2tog) x8
Row 18: (p8, ssp) x8
Row 19: (yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k5, k2tog) x8
Row 20: (p9, ssp) x8

. . . . and so on until I get:

Row 49: (yo, k1, yo, k1, yo, k20, k2tog) x8
Row 50: (p24, ssp) x8 . . . .

But I ended up with way too much knitting! Luckily the hat will be fine for my friend as she can carry off the tea cosy look, but I'd really like another go at this. .. . . Any suggestions at all?

Thanks in advance!

10  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Umbilical cord hat with teeny rabbit to use up the wool! on: October 13, 2008 10:54:54 AM

I made this with some lovely soft merino wool I got on sale, for a friend who is having a baby.

I found the pattern for the bunny here:

Hope you like!
