1  CRAFTSTER CRAFT CHALLENGES / Craftster Craft Challenges / Re: Craft Challenge #32 - DIY Halloween Costumes - Due Nov 1 - Nov 5 2008 on: October 05, 2008 02:21:24 PM
Is it possible to enter with a costume, when some parts of the costume has been submitted to a challenge on another board with another theme (Theme is "crazy handbags") ?

I guess, the part which i would like to "recycle", is about a quarter to a half of the complete costume ...

This is a really great idea! And it looks gorgeous ... i don't have an apple computer, but if my husband could see this (i don't think i will show it to him  Wink we have enough computers at this house), he would buy one and force me to make a cover like that. He is so enthusiastic  for everything with biblical innuendos ... (hope, this is the right word)

Teils, teils ... ich wollte mich eigentlich ziemlich ans Original halten, hatte aber viele Stoffe nicht in den passenden Tnen und da hab ich dann improvisiert.

I have made a cozy for this challenge, I'm sure of that ... but where has it gone? I can't find it in my living room ... can't be true, i worked a half day on that d***ed cozy ...

Do you see my cozy? It's so messy in here  Embarrassed

You found it?   Shocked  Where is it?

Aah!  Wink There it is!

It`s a TV-Cozy, camouflaged as a TV. Great idea, right?  Grin It even has a button to turn it on or off!

I did the TV test pattern in patchwork, unfortunately the colors do not really match a real TV test pattern ... i haven't had that assortment of greys and blacks in my fabric stash.
Here you can get an impression of a real test pattern. Yes, i know ... I've turned a part of the test pattern on the wrong side Embarrassed Noticed that, when it was already to late.

The inner fabrics are patchwork fabric or simple cotton (the black fabric), the outer fabrics are/is (?) linen, which i dyed myself some time ago.

The white lines are quilted, stupidly i can't get the orange marker out of the white fabric.  Sad

The characters are quilted, too. The word in the middle of the test pattern says "Sendepause", that means send pause or intermission in English.

For the borders and the backmost (?) parts i have chosen a brown batik fabric to simulate a (fake) wooden TV frame.

So, this is my cozy. I hope you like it!

More and bigger pictures of my camouflaged TV-Cozy
There are no thumbnails of the pictures, but the big pictures are there ... i am sure of that  Wink
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / Re: I fell in love with my kitchen - pic heavy on: August 23, 2008 11:53:39 AM
Thank you all! The Remake of the kitchen was a piece of hard work, but i feel very happy about the change and your comments to it.

The toilet seat was a kind of "Time to go to bed, but not tired enough"-project, just trace down the outlines and hurry to color the areas as long as the paint is wet ... i speckled (?) the cross-fade (??) to get it smooth ... only used tree colors; blue, white and black. It is really easy to do.  Cheesy

7  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / I fell in love with my kitchen - pic heavy on: August 21, 2008 11:29:34 PM
Now that i managed to get 10 Postings, which was really hard for me (i dont speak english, i do speak german with english words ... i was not familiar with reading or listen to english until i found craftster  Embarrassed - please excuse my strange compositions in this posting), i like to show you, what i did to my kitchen ...

This was'nt one kitchen at all, it was two. When i went in to my husband, there were kitchen cabinets in the house, but i thought, that they didn't afford enough space for all the stuff to get in. So we put some cabinets of my old kitchen together with the existing cabinets ... didn't look good, but at that moment, there was no other way to do it (no money, old game ...)

The walls were left in the colors they had for years. Mustard-yellow, washable color at the lower part of the wall and white wallpaper with babyblue spots in the upper part ... *erhm* white, when it was put onto the wall ... nicotine-yellow, when i moved in.

But take a look at the horrible kitchen, before i went my wrath on it.

And after one hole week of working day and night, eating only fast food and brewing our coffee above the toilet:

It isn't completly finished, i am still searching for things to decorate, fabrics for curtains and there are still things left, which need to be painted (the noodles in the glasses on top of the wall cabinets for example ... at this moment i have painted only one of the glasses). But i found many things on a trip to amsterdam, some gorgeous oilcloth from Mexico to cover the shelfs in the cabinets and funny postcard to glue onto the tiles behind the sink ...

Apropos ... brewing the coffee above the toilet ... in this connection i broke our toilet seat. Climbed onto, to fill coffee beans into the machine   Embarrassed
So, we needed a new one ... and i was in painting mode  Cool

Strictly speaking, i didn't draw the octopus, i copyed the outlines and only put the color into ... made some changes to fit the toilet seat, but it isn't my art ... this is the artwork i used as my model: http://www.greatdreams.com/political/world-octopus.jpg

Okay, i think, i have made enough words ... comments and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks for looking  Smiley
8  HOME SWEET HOME / Pet-Related Crafts: Discussion and Questions / Re: Cat Deterrent or Blocker? on: August 21, 2008 03:11:03 PM
I needed a similar solution some time ago, to avoid our cats from jumping out of a window at the second floor (one of the cats got out onto the windowsill and slipped of ... fortunately she only lost one teeth, not her life).

I made a frame of wooden slats and covered it with net lace ... didn't think, it would stop the cats, but it did. After some time, they made some holes into the net lace, but then they lost the interest at this window.

Maybe this could be a way, to close your holes? I have no idea about your woodworking skills, but a rectangular frame is not too catchy to make.
