11  Embroidered Pillow case **my first embroidery project** in Needlework: Completed Projects by punkypenguin42 on: June 23, 2008 10:33:07 AM
So back in March I decided that I wanted to embroider my friend a pillow case for her Birthday. This is the first time I have embroidered anything (except for the time I tried to embroider a smiley face on my jeans when i was 9). This pillow didn't get finished until about a week ago (my friends bday was in April). I am such a procrastinator. BUT...I am still super pleased with how it turned out and she really liked it too!

the entire pillow

It was a lot of fun learning different stitches. The satin stitch was the hardest for me. It also took me awhile to master french knots. I am excited to start on my next project. I have aunt martha transfers I think I am going to put on tea towels!
stitches used: satin, stem, french knot, backstitch, running stitch

12  Monster Strawaberry Cupcakes in Dessert by punkypenguin42 on: June 13, 2008 12:38:10 PM
I made these cupcakes for my church picnic cake wheel. I think they turn out pretty well. They are based off of cookie monster cupcakes I saw. I used a grass tip for the icing. I had never used one before so I'm not sure if I was using it right. But they still look good I think.

I cut oreos in half for the mouth. Oh yeah they are strawberry cupcakes!
Here is a cake my mom made for the picnic. It is a lemon supreme cake decorated with candy fruit wedges.

13  Hounds tooth wallet in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by punkypenguin42 on: May 18, 2008 05:35:28 PM
Here are two wallets I made. The hounds tooth I made for a friend it turned out the best.

Here is the inside of the hounds tooth (the pic turned out weird). I used 4 different fat quarters. I am very happy with how they turned out my friend loved hers.

14  Fishbowl cake and Fishtank Cake in Dessert by punkypenguin42 on: May 18, 2008 05:29:00 PM
Here are two cakes that I made with a theme of fish. I got the idea off of better homes and gardens.

(fishbowl cake)
This one I made a while back for a friends birthday.

(fish tank cake)
This one I made recently for a dessert contest.
I used nerds to represent the rocks in fishtanks. The fishbowl cake has swedish fish gummies and the tank has shark gummies. The tank also has a castle made of fruit rollups. They were a lot of fun to make. I plan on making another for a church picnic. Grin

15  Gumball Machine in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by punkypenguin42 on: May 13, 2008 11:33:56 AM
This is a gumball machine that I made a while back. I saw this post and thought I should post mine https://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=245731.0.

It is made out of a TerraCotta pot. I used acrylic paint (it seemed like a million coats), then I sprayed it with polyurethane. I can't remember what type of glue I used to glue the glass bowl to the terracotta. The top was a lucky find, it was already the blue color i wanted...all I had to do as glue my wood knob to it. I also painted a yellow line on the top where there was some white.
I wish I still had it but I gave it away at a church picnic. It looked so cute full of jelly beans. Now I really want to make more. I love how this one turned out. I want to make one for my desk at work, but I need to find smaller pots.

16  Old Sweater into Awesome Purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by punkypenguin42 on: April 06, 2008 07:03:59 PM
This is a purse I made for my sister. I used an old sweater that I had been saving. I then appliqued on a character (Deku sprite) from the video game Zelda. I also embroidered a zelda triforce on the back...but it didn't turn out so well so I didn't take a pic of it.

I really like the front. I'm happy that it turned out so well. I based the pattern off of a tutorial:http://www.cutoutandkeep.net/projects/reduce_reuse_recycle_a_thrift_store_sweater

17  My first shrink dink project!! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by punkypenguin42 on: March 17, 2008 11:37:36 AM
Here is my first shrinky dink project. I was super excited to find the material at my local craft store. The first sheet was a total disaster. I tried to use my printer to print on the plastic, but all of the colors bled. So I ended up using  crayons and color pencils to trace the images.

They are mostly Naruto characters and then a random hello kitty and jack from nightmare before christmas. Starting from the top left: Gaara, Kakashi, Jack, Itachi, Naruto, Lee, Hello Kitty, Hinata, and Temari. I'm not sure which is my favorite. My sister was so excited about them. We even made some for her friends.

I am really Happy Cheesy with the way they turned out. Now I just have to tackle my resin projects...but something tells me that resin isn't going to be as easy as shrinky dinks.
