1  Lost birthday party in Completed Projects by punkypenguin42 on: July 12, 2010 10:36:19 AM
For my sisters birthday she wanted a Lost themed party.
I made a cake.

This is the first time I have made a cake this elaborate. It's red velvet, with butter cream icing. The "sand" is light brown sugar. The dark blue waves are tinted piping gel.
I also made cupcakes and candy sushi.

For the cupcakes I made dharma picks.
And I made dharma wraps for the drinks.

Let me know what you think. Or if you have questions. Thanks!

2  Spring Flower Ink Pens in Completed Projects by punkypenguin42 on: April 19, 2010 02:16:16 PM
Spring is one of my favorite times of the year. To celebrate, I made flower ink pens.

I glued fake flowers to the tops of ink pens and wrapped them in floral tape. I know this has been done before, by someone, somewhere, but I wanted to give them a try. They turned out well. Their super easy to make and don't take much time. I posted a more detailed tutorial on my blog. Here is the link.

Comments and questions welcome.

3  Bruce the Moose in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by punkypenguin42 on: April 01, 2010 09:42:28 AM
This is Bruce the Moose from Canada. I made this moose stuffed animal for a friends birthday. The body is fleece and the flag is felt. Bruce is now a mascot for my sisters winterguard team. They carried him around on championship day and even had their photos taken with him. Now he's a gold medalist too!

4  Mohawk Hats in Crochet: Completed Projects by punkypenguin42 on: March 18, 2010 11:16:15 AM
I made my sister and some of her friends Mohawk hats. I have made 3 so far. I used a normal hat pattern and then tied 4 inch yarn strips down the center. They are a lot of fun to make. I am hoping to get some better pictures and a picture of the third hat soon.

Comments welcome. Grin

5  Quilt block identification, help please. in Quilting: Discussion and Questions by punkypenguin42 on: September 10, 2009 11:27:49 AM
I bought a bag of unfinished quilt blocks from a yard sale. I want to finish the quilt blocks, but I don't know what pattern it is. It looks to me like some kind of patchwork star block.  The pieces are sew to old news papers. Some of the blocks have more patchwork than others. I'm not sure that the quilt block is supposed to be done in patchwork. One of the newspapers on the block is dated 1966.

Can anyone tell me what the name of this block is or guide me in the right direction? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I also made cupcakes with Bleach themed toppers

Let me know what you think!
(sorry for the bad quality photos, there was no daylight when I took them.)

7  My First Inchies in Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General by punkypenguin42 on: May 12, 2009 11:11:25 AM
I don't usually work in paper craft , but I was inspired by all the inchies here on craftster so I wanted to give inchies a try. I read a post that said someone used old business cards as a base, and I have tons of those. I have been saving them thinking... surly I'll find a use for them eventually and  inchies are the perfect project.

I used highlighters and a pen to color these.

Let me know what you think!

8  Ghostbuster, Little Mermaid, prince and princess costumes in Halloween Costumes by punkypenguin42 on: October 22, 2008 11:43:48 AM
These are some of the Halloween costumes my mom made when I was little.

Little Mermaid Costume.
I am not sure what year this costume is, but I think I'm in second grade because that is when I cut my own hair. It was really long. Ok on to the costume. The tail had a metallic looking green mesh. It really made the tail shimmer. I also like the fake rhinestones my mom used for the jewelry. And of course there is a Crown. Almost all of my costumes had a crown.

Ghost Busters Rock! This was a cool costume. My mom took a simple jump suit pattern and turned it into the coolest ghost busters costume ever. It has a velcro panel in the front, when pulled down, reveled insides (ie bones, heart, etc.). The costume was basically a ghost dressed up as a ghost buster. I wish I had a picture of the panel, so you could see what I am talking about. My mom made the ghost buster symbol out of felt. Bro even had a proton pack. My dad took a toy proton pack similar to this one, and painted it to make it look more authentic.

Prince and Princess Costumes! I don't know what year this is from either. I guess my parents didn't think to put the years on the back of pictures. But its cool that my bro and I had a theme. Easier for mom! We loved to play with the horses long after Halloween was over. What was cool about these costumes was the two for one deal. Not only were you a princess or prince, but a horse too! I liked the horses because they had elastic so they stayed around our waists without us having to hold them. I think if they had been stick horses we wouldn't want to carry them while trick or treating. I really like my bros, the silver material really looks like armor. He even has a helmet!

Check out my blog for more of my costumes. http://craftydoodads.blogspot.com/2008/10/halloween-part-2.html

9  SheRa and Lion-o costume in Halloween Costumes by punkypenguin42 on: October 01, 2008 02:04:42 PM
1988...SheRa and Thundercats!
My mom is awesome at making costumes. She never said, "They don't have a pattern for that. " We told her what we wanted and she found a way to make it. My brothers Thundercats costume is a prime example.

Mom took a muscle man costume and parts of the pattern to my costume to make Lion-O leader of the Thundercats! I think this is one of the best costumes she made. It one first place at our city's costume contest. Like the red furry creature on bros head?We always joke that the red hair was a rug or carpet, but I think its fake fur.
Thundercat Costume

This is me, SheRa, alter ego of Princess Adora and also the twin sister of He-Man. I was a goofy kid. I think I am happy because I won clue...I won first place at the city competition too. I think I was 3 almost 4 in this picture.

As a kid, I loved to wear the gold gauntlets and gold boots around the house.

Mom always made Halloween special. I can remember being excited when the costumes were ready to be tried on. Mom would even take a vacation around Halloween to finish our costumes.Shera Costume

Dad says that people around us at the costume contests would say it wasn't fair us to win first place because we bought our costumes at specialty costume shops. But what they didn't know is that my mom made all of our costumes. I think it is a huge complement to my mom. She always worked very hard on our costumes.

You can read more about my past costumes on my blog...I am posting several segments. Here is the link to the first post of my Halloween segments http://craftydoodads.blogspot.com/2008/10/halloween.html

I didn't use a pattern I just winged it. You can read more about it on my blog listed in my signature.
