1  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Need help for my shopping party fundraiser on: September 27, 2008 06:45:00 AM
Hi all!

I am organizing an event scheduled for November 30th and it is looking really amazing! I have a lot of great participants from Etsy!
You can view them here:

For those that don't know, I am holding a shopping party fundraiser to benefit our local food bank, Sun Youth. Sun Youth provides food/toy baskets for needy families during the holidays. You can read more about Sun Youth here: http://sunyouthorg.com/

I am giving out goodie bags to the first 100 guests, but so far I only have 10 people donating goodies for the bags and not all of them are donating 100 pieces! I need help! Please! Whatever amount of items you can donate is fine, I just don't want to give out a bag with 3 or 4 items...

You can read all about the event on my site:

This is the first time that I am organizing this event and would love for it to be a success! I'd like to hold about 2 a year for different charities.

Thank you for taking the time to read this!! Smiley
2  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / A boutique wants to buy my items!! Advice needed! on: May 04, 2008 02:21:28 PM
wow! I have only been on Etsy for a few days, and just today I received a message from someone who has a boutique in a nearby city that focuses on Canadian hand-crafted items. She is interested if buying some of my notebooks & organizer boxes for her store! She wants to know my 'conditions of sale'....but of course since I have never done this before, I have no idea what to tell her!! I'd love to be in her store, this is a great beginning for me since I just started making these notebooks this winter...

Any advice on what I should tell her??

Thanks so much!!!

I'm slowly getting the hang of coptic binding now...Here are a few notebooks that I just created this week! Your opinions on them would be greatly appreciated!!

4  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / My paper keeps ripping - HELP! on: April 15, 2008 01:37:57 PM
I really need some advice! I sold at a craft fair this week and a customer wanted a special order...(I make notebooks). The paper that she chose for the cover doesn't fold well and it keeps ripping at the folds! I don't know what I can do to fix this! I really don't want to contact the customer to tell her that I can't make it for her....I could camouflage the rips with a black marker but I would feel bad if she notices....

Any ideas?

5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Tips for Participating in Craft Fairs / First time participating in a craft fair - need some help! on: April 02, 2008 03:02:13 PM
I'll be participating in my very first craft fair on April 13th...I will be selling handmade journals, post-it note holders, note pad holders and mini-accordion storage boxes. What should I bring and how should I set up my merchandise?
The last time I went to a craft fair was probably in the early 90s so I have no idea what I should be doing!!
I'm assuming I have to bring a cash box, change, a table cloth...and then???
I was thinking that while I'm there I can bind some of my notebooks so people can see how I make them..

Thanks in advance for your help!!

6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / working with velcro closures...help needed! on: March 20, 2008 04:35:45 PM
I posted some pictures of the mini accordion folder that I made...I made it with a ribbon closure originally, but I don't think that would be practical if you needed to open the box often. I tried some velcro closures, but they are ripping off the paper! I don't know how to fix this now...Please see the pictures below and let me know if you have any other suggestions.

Thank you!!
7  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Mini-accordion box - (updated with more pics) on: March 12, 2008 07:21:41 AM
I absolutely LOVED the mini-accordion box that Papermuse created, so I tried it last night. I finished at 2am just because I was having so much fun putting it together and I just couldn't go to bed until it was all done!!

It came out pretty good, although there a few things that didn't come out perfectly...I have a few tiny rips in the paper because I didn't give enough room for the folds...but it's okay...turned out cute anyway!

I think this would make a pretty cute CD holder!

Here is the tutorial that I used: http://papermuse.files.wordpress.com/2007/06/accordion-box-tutorial.pdf
She did a fantastic job writing these out - thank you so much!!

8  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Journals made from children's storybooks on: March 11, 2008 08:00:30 PM
Hi all,

I wanted to try to make a journal out of some old 'Little Golden Book' story books that I had...I saw this idea on Etsy and loved it! So now you can write your notes and still read your favorite story from when you were a kid whenever you want!  Grin

There are a few things that didn't come out the way I wanted, but I suppose practice makes perfect!!

Please post your comments and let me know what you think!!

9  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / My first set of coptic bound journals (a lot of images) on: March 11, 2008 03:58:19 PM
I'm new here...I am really enjoying this website, you all are quite talented! I am amazed at the creativity on this board!

I just started binding my own journals last week...mostly because my friend is hosting a craft fair for charity and I wanted to take part...so I just looked up some craft ideas on the Internet and fell upon some coptic binding tutorials - now I'm hooked! I've made about 12 so far...but I'll only post my favorites..

Please let me know what you think! Since you all have more experience than I do, I'm hoping you can give me some advice on what to do to make my journals even better! The craft fair is on April 13th so I've been trying to make 2 a day, but with a baby at home...it's quite the challenge!!  Wink
