@Kittymom13:  Shocked Shocked Shocked you have amazing blankets there. I must say that the one you pulled out of the chest has some great colors. I wish i could buy some red heart yarn Sad we dont have it here in Belgium Sad at least i have not found it yet.

I love Redheart as much as the next person (well.. maybe more!), it makes up about 80% of my stash... but it is very low quality yarn. I love it bc its cheap and makes my projects VERY inexpensive, and with the right care the project can be soft. Keep in mind that most of RH yarn is acrylic, which is a man-made fiber, basically its spun plastic..lol. Sometimes I look at wool stashes and DROOL! But right now, I have moths I'm having a hard time getting rid of, and I'm sooo glad that my yarn isnt one of the things they're after..lol.
Here's an old pick of my stash.. since the move, its gotten even bigger, bc I have more room now; its the same setup, just more boxes.

Kittymom13- No..lol, I'm making a Hexagon Afghan. It's just that since Its going to be all kinds of crazy colors, from my scrap stash, I'm mass producing. IDK if that makes sense, but here's my progress so far:

They're all stacked about 5 high...*sigh*.. trust me, its ALOT more than it seems...

16  This is your granny's Tetris! in Crochet: Completed Projects by nfirehazzard on: May 06, 2009 08:04:26 PM
Im sure that most of you who crochet have your "boredom/distraction" crochet projects, you know the ones, that scrap blanket in the trunk of your car, or that sweater you'll finish for some christmas. Well this was mine. A Long, long time ago, when I first started crocheting I told My hubby I would make him a Tetris blankie...so 1 year of boredom and about 10 skeins of yarn later.. I give u all my masterpiece!!! Tetris a la Granny!* Ohhh, ahhh!*

I love how scary my son looks in this shot.. but he jumped in at the last moment, just to say hi to the camera..lol:

Progress shot..Well, you can atleast get a good look at most of the pattern in this shot:

The completed work! Yay!

The back and sooo many ends!:

Trust me, the hardest part of making this was sketching out the graph...I wanted it to look like a game that was about to be won.. instead of just interlocking pieces. I mustve drawn this up about 10 times... and I still messed it up about 3 times in the process. Over all, it was much fun!

17  Diagonal Striped Blankie in Crochet: Completed Projects by nfirehazzard on: April 25, 2009 08:47:20 PM
Yes! Its yet another diagonal blanket of mass doom!! This one took me about 2 months.. bc I was being lazy and crocheting in btwn. Its an order from a co-worker for her daughters 10th b-day. We lovingly nicknamed it the Hanna Montana blanket..lol. It took about 12-14 ( I lost count) skeins of Red Heart super saver yarn and a J hook. Its about a twin size and measures about 3.5 ft x 6 ft, and I got the patter from Crochet Cabana. I'm so proud!*smiles*

19  Super Ruffly Blanket of DOOM!! in Crochet: Completed Projects by nfirehazzard on: February 04, 2009 07:55:21 PM
So a friend of mine at work, finally got the good news that she's pregnant with a baby girl! This is great news for her, because she had lost 2 already, and we're all keeping our fingers crossed that this one makes it home safe and healthy. As a show of my hope and belief in her, I committed to making her the most beautiful, hand-cramping, carpal tunnel inducing blanket pattern I had in my collection. It took me two weeks of non-stop crocheting to get it done.. and I must say, I'm really proud of it. (So much so, I've considered many times keeping it for myself ^_^) I used Bernat Baby Coordinates Pink, Baby Pink, and White, the blanket was composed of one main piece worked in  (dc, sc, dc, sc....) alternating colors, and then 3, yes THREE ruffles. A bottom, top and inner, and finished with a simple pink ribbon. I am NEVER crocheting something this labor intensive again, I now know why people complain so much about Picots...I'm already threatening my vagina to think of only boys..boys dont like ruffles.

I bought this lovely book at Half Priced Books for $0.25:

Bottom Ruffle Close up:
I ran out of the dark pink, and then the light pink...and the Picots are in white..lol.

Size comparison:
The book is approx. 12 x 9 inches.

20  Striped Winter Set in Crochet: Completed Projects by nfirehazzard on: January 19, 2009 04:34:04 PM
So a friend of mine at work asked me to make her a set to go with her plaid jacket, and after much head banging and plaid hating... I decided on alternating stripes. So below we have a beanie, scarf and long mitts, I used Lion Wool-Ease Denim Twist and Caron Simply Soft Eco in Wine Country. If you look closely the you can see the scarf is actually plaid... but she was on her way home and refused to take it off... I might wrestle her for better pics later.Comments appreciated.
My way too excited model...lol:
