1  Cheeburger, Cheeburger in Amigurumi: Completed Projects by cathytg on: October 19, 2011 10:38:15 AM
I am insanely proud of myself. A month ago I didn't know how to crochet at all, but my daughter wanted to get some new craft supplies, so we went to Michaels to pick something out. She saw an amigurumi book and was enchanted, so I figured "Well, she can learn to do that ... how hard can it be?" We bought the book and some hooks. The next day, I went and bought a "learn to crochet" book so I could understand the amigurumi book. Then she got disgusted and gave up, but I became OBSESSIVELY DETERMINED to figure it out.

The instructions in the new book were terrible and had me slip-stitching instead of single crocheting, but I got the Happy Hooker and it finally clicked. I made a couple of scarves and a hat and stuff, and then I was ready for the ultimate challenge:

The amigurumi cheeseburger! Now I've made myself a shawl and want to do some more stuffed toys, and I'm kind of obsessed with lacework. This is why no good can come of a trip to a craft store.

2  Peacock Pillowcase in Needlework: Completed Projects by cathytg on: March 18, 2008 12:11:40 PM
Eep -- my first project posted here, and my first serious embroidery project! I didn't do so well with the satin stitch and the lazy daisies, but I'm still very pleased with this pillowcase. I'm halfway through the second in the set, and it's going better.

Thanks for taking a look!
