1  I has a cactus ^_^ in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Knotty Kitty on: September 08, 2008 03:33:01 PM
I have a dislike of patterns. Someday, when I start actually sewing, that's going to pose a problem. However, this time it somehow worked out.

I was rummaging through my cloth collection, looking for something to make. I came across some fabric that reminded me of cactus. (A subject that I'm very familiar with here in Southern Arizona.) So I took my trusty sharpie, drew a shape directly onto the cloth, cut out four of them, and started sewing. Honestly I was just guessing on the shape of the pieces. By some miracle, it came out ok. But enough talking. Onto photos!

The cactus.

The flower is made of felt and some beads and sparkly things for embellishment in the center.

The bottom. I ran out of the green fabric, so I used this brown and tan batik-style print that reminded me of roots. I put a circle of cardboard in the bottom before sewing it up so that it stands nicely.

One more...

In case you're wondering, it's only my fourth or fifth plushie. It took a couple hours to make, all handstitched. It would have taken probably five minutes on a sewing machine.

2  Can anyone identify this machine? in Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions by Knotty Kitty on: September 01, 2008 05:15:01 PM
I recently inherited a sewing machine from my grandmother, but I have no information about it, other than the fact that it's old. It says "General" on the side, so it's a GE machine, and it says "Deluxe Zigzag". Unfortunately, web searches of every combination of those words yeilds nothing helpful. It had an instruction manual, but I sat down to read it and realized it's for a different, newer machine. I have a feeling I'm going to need to get it repaired, it's been sitting for quite some time and I haven't been brave enough to turn it on yet. It'll at least need to be oiled, and I'm going to need instructions for that.

So, does anyone know what this dinosaur is?

I can take more pictures if needed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'd hate to have to lug it into my local sewing place, it's shockingly heavy.

3  Re: Craft your own full and flirty (NO Sew) tee-shirt skirt in Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by Knotty Kitty on: August 31, 2008 06:53:10 PM
I made one last night.  Grin Thanks for the great idea! It's my new fave around-the-house skirt, it's so comfortable. It's also my very first clothing reconstruction.

4  Just a little ragdoll in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Knotty Kitty on: April 24, 2008 02:37:49 PM
I made her several months ago, maybe a year, but only just now finished her hair. It was handsewn on piece by piece, my first doll hair job. She's only 6 inches tall (not counting her crazy pigtails).

3-layered skirt!

Thanks for looking. ^_^

5  Re: Post Photos of Your Tattoos! in Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects by Knotty Kitty on: April 19, 2008 03:26:17 AM
Old very poor quality, but it has all of my tats except one (the word "Daddy" in cursive script on my ankle, I never bothered to photograph it.)

Better pic of my wings, my favorite piece.

6  Tiny Kitty is tiny in Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects by Knotty Kitty on: March 11, 2008 10:01:00 PM
Not my first project, but definately the smallest. I present Tiny Kitty, sitting on a quarter. Sorry for the crappy pics, it's hard to photograph something so small in bad lighting. >_>

He's sewn together out of two pieces of fabric, and stuffed. His eyes are seed beads and his tail is a thread I tied in a bunch of knots.
