Mike was always the forgotten Monkee, but always dear to my heart.  I love the hat, nice work.

I agree I would love to see the mods you made.  My DS is here right now and he wants a baby penguin. Cheesy

How long does it take to knit up?  That would be perfect for my DD to wear on Halloween.
15  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: What do you do when you're knitting? on: September 26, 2005 08:14:06 PM
I usually watch tv or listen to audio books.  Knitting makes the boy's fascination with sports much easier to bear Wink

I knit while watching TV or while DH watches sports.
16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Cascade ?'s on: September 26, 2005 08:12:17 PM
Cascade comes in a hank.  You cannot knit off from a hank.  You must wind it into a ball before knitting.  I untwist it, cut those little knotted bits, hang it over a chair back.  then wind it into a ball.

As far as the dye, I haven't had that problem with cascade, but with many other highly pigmented yarns.  I actually have some bamboo needles, that are pink from some red yarn.  Cheesy

Erica I like the modifications you made to the pattern,  on the outside cables did you just cable back instead of forward on the left side?  Also I love that ribbed cable how do you do that?

I added one stitch to make the total cast on 43.  The extra stitch is for the center cable which is a 7 stitch cable.  You are totally right about the right and left cables.  For one hold your stitches in front; for the other hold them in back.  For the center cable, see the following website.  http://wendyknits.net/knit/twistcable.htm She is using the center cable pattern to teach how to knit without a cable needle.  Regardless of whether you use a cable needle or not, the pattern for the center cable is there with picture.  I hope this helps

I don't understand where the middle stitch is going?  I do use a cable needle.  Am I placing 4 stitches on the CN and then working the last three, then knitting off the first 4?

Thanks for pointing out that pattern.  I am making the scarf for my DH right now, and I love wrist warmers for me. Smiley

I am going to be starting that this week I think.  It is going to be a gift for my DH.
