1  Re: The Gorgeous Choker Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Not Quite Scooter Trash on: August 11, 2008 01:09:40 PM
Chiming In!

sorry ive been so MIA ladies...i got back on the 25th and have worked every day since...i was supposed to only have 13 days in a row...but im going on 17...and i have tomorrow also...but then i have two days off, and my last day at this hellish job...thank stars.

im so glad you like it talyra! i started about three different chokers and half made them before i got it just right...and now im thinking ill have to make about 6 more for all of my friends who saw it and wanted yours!

im about to go take pictures...i was hoping to be able to do an action shot...but i look like pure hell and am to the point of not even letting my boyfriend see me until my day off--yes, its bad to the point of wearing makeup for the first time in six months.

i love my choker...its perfection talyra. there are no words to describe it.

CAYCA---i was trying to go for a vintage feel with a modern twist... talyra and i are both metal type girls, so it was just too perfect to not use metal tones.

((updates with pictures asap.))

OKAY! i have a picture...it does it no justice at all...but it does at least show its detail. i especially love the chainmaille and the teardrop...and am just amazed by the fact that the thing in the medal is a camera lense...how cool!?

PICTURE! modeled by my lovely patent leather bar stool.

2  Re: The Gorgeous Choker Swap - Sign-ups: 06/16/08 to *06/22/08*, Send outs 07/30/08 in ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED by Not Quite Scooter Trash on: June 21, 2008 05:22:26 PM
at the moment im making and snipping coils for links...cause my aspect ration is working and now i actually need a lot of them...

progress picture...

ive got about 4.5 inches ((~11 cm)) done of the chain...and ive got beads // a pendant picked out for it, and a hook and eye made up...the pendant is a black superpolised hematite, crystal style with a silver cap, and the beads are a purple-y glass bead from japan. im using 16 gauge aluminum wire from the local agriculture store--its meant for electric fences.

im quite enjoying making this, if someone from the swap other than whomever ends up being my partner wants one eventually, PM me.  i can forsee lots of chainmaille in the future...   Smiley

3  Re: Fiber Friday 4/25/2008 in Spinning: Completed Projects by Not Quite Scooter Trash on: April 25, 2008 09:30:33 AM
so, this is my first fiber friday...and ive got stuff from the last two weeks to show off...

first, four handdyed rovings, no idea on the weights, theyre all mill end superwash dyed with RIT powder.

this one is my favorite...i call it "eyes the color of insanity" from my favorite Flogging Molly song, The Devils Dance Floor.  i think im going to spin it up chunky-ish and make a hat out of it. maybe.

since its springtime, i did this up, "feels like rain"

for my best friend, the girliest girl i know--"feelin' fruity" aka "anabelle"

and i thought it would be a cool color combo, im not sure how much i like it, we'll see what it looks like spun up..."brusied bananas"

two handspun yarns--

100 yards worsted ish weight navajo plied coriedale comercial dyed--"cacao"

160 yards superwash worsted ish weight navajo plied, handdyed by carol(?) at the sheep shed studio--"autumnal haze"

and what im working on right now:

hand carded // blended a mix of green and a little mustard colored merino, lots of black natural alpaca and some of the leftover roving from "cacao"...this one isnt named yet, im aiming for about 300 yards of singles, and im going to ply it with some natural cream blend mill ends

on the bobbin...

and whats left to be spun...((sorry for the up close fuzzyness))

thats everything for this week...and today i have the day off...so i plan on hitting the wheel soon.
