41  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Return of the Secret Santa Wishlist Swap! on: November 20, 2017 08:35:47 AM
I'm not a tooth grinder, but I have a weird habit of moving my teeth against my tongue to the beat of a song... is that weird? Hahaha.

First claim is ALMOST done! Just waiting for drying time. I'm so excited about this one. It came out better than I envisioned! I have supplies for claim 2 but need to sit down and get a start on it soon.

Oh! I meant to ask, does a claim count as complete once the parcel is at its destination or once we provide proof of shipment?

So is anyone else thinking about how to wrap everything differently in case people share pictures of cards & unopened presents?  Or have I just done too many rounds of Stalker Swaps?  Smiley

I hadn't even considered that I'll be able to use up some wrapping paper! Woohoo! I have quite the stash. Smiley

I'm excited that so far we have two participants from Maryland and two from California, so when people receive packages from these states they can't immediately guess their Secret Santa by address.  Cool

And two from Ontario, Canada!  Grin

So excited!
When can we start claiming? I can't recall if we can start claiming right away or wait until signups are closed.

Hey folks! I'm Mary, and I hail from Ontario, Canada. I'm a graphic designer by day, and a baker by night. I'm in the local improv group, and on the board for our not-for-profit theatre troupe. I live with my husband, two cats, and two turtles. We celebrate Christmas and although I'm religious at heart, it doesn't show in my decorating. I love vintage 1950's/60's Christmas decor and mod designs. Our Christmas tree is covered in ornaments from our family and friends (we asked everyone to bring an ornament from their tree in lieu of a gift at our engagement party). Christmas stuff is definitely not a requirement for me for this swap, but I wouldn't mind receiving it either. I have no known allergies. I love bright colours and fun stuff! Favourite patterns are argyle, stripes, and polka dots.

You'll find me at pinterest.com/fluffypants

Definitely not limited to these, but a few themes & stuff:
- Moomins. I love anything Moomin!
- Katamari Damacy. Love that game, so hard to find any merch.
- Baking
- Retro
- Classic rock & vinyl records, the Monkees, the Beatles
- Ben Folds
- Moxy Fruvous. One of my favourite bands, they're no longer together and there's very little merch available.
- Warhol & pop art
- Old video games (NES, Atari, etc)
- Board games!!!
- Arrested Development
- Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency (current BBC series)

Crafted goodies:
- Fun or quirky earrings
- Pendant necklaces (at least 18" chain/cord)
- Silly taxidermy (stuffed animals or toys, maybe a loose seal? haha)
- Artwork for my craft room wall
- Warm mittens (Canada winters, eh?)
- Socks or slippers (women's size 11)
- Wallet for gift cards/loyalty cards
- Stencilled t-shirts inspired by my TV/music/video game themes (men's/unisex large)
- Some sort of "whip it" Devo/baking mashup piece
- Kitchen towels (retro, baking inspired, or fun colours... would love some with quirky baking sayings)
- Anything inspired by my Pinterest
- Something for the kitties
- Something for the turtles (I have no idea what turtles like)
- Something for the husband (he likes, in his words, "old school science stuff" like slide rules and Gallileo thermometers. He's involved in air search and rescue, and loves peanut butter pretzel nuggets.)

Craft & baking supplies:
- Blank cards
- Thread & needles
- Sprinkles
- Greaseproof muffin liners
- Stencil brushes

Non-crafty things I like:
- Hot chocolate
- Bath stuff
- Playing ukulele

January would be best for me, but I could probably make either work. Smiley
47  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Inchie House October Swap 2017 Gallery on: November 02, 2017 01:16:54 PM
I received inchie bakeries from both of my partners today! (And an extra little chocolate charm, which is an exact match for a pair of earrings I made years ago! Weird!)

On the left, from Aluraceleste, on the right from Cabaute. (Hope I got that right!)

My favourite details are the hanging sign on Aluraceleste's, and the 3D window displays on Cabaute's! They are amazing. I have to find a special spot for them in my craft room, until I have my own bakery to display them in. Smiley

This sounds SUPER fun! I love Secret Santa, and don't get a chance to gift crafty things as much as I'd like to.

This sounds fun! I'm sure I could dig up LOTS of things I could send off to other happy crafters.

Oh goodness, I really need to start thinking about Christmas crafting. I make ornaments for my nieces every year, usually about a significant event from the past year. I've got to get motoring on those, as last year they were very last minute, and although cute, I kept feeling I could have done more with them.

I think this year I might bake some stuff for gifts, and perhaps make some sewn items as well. I also have two craft shows lined up (one for crafts, one for baking) so I'll be prepping for those too. First I need to declutter the craft room and see what I've got leftover from last year's shows!
