The pom pom critters are SO cute! I love the cats!

Mmmmm, babka. I still have a loaf in my freezer from last year... now I want a slice!

The typewriter key purse is too cool, and those flowy tops are lovely! I love the fabrics.

I've been trying to get to crafting  I bought a tray yesterday to finally use all the mosaic bits I bought at a yard sale earlier this year  but baking keeps getting in the way! I'm signed up for Gishwhes (The Greatest International Scavenger Hunt the World Has Ever Seen) this August, so I'll probably have a few crafty ventures in store for that, at least. Smiley

For the time being, 12 of these banana cheesecakes left my kitchen for a wedding this past weekend! Yum.

OK... two people asked for it, so here's my current dump! Ask if you want recipes and I'll see if I can track them down. There are a few recipes I don't usually share because they're more estimations and eyeballing, but not many.

Savory

Had a craving one night, so I made homemade pizzas for dinner Smiley

Focaccia bread

I made a bunch of baguettes and for some reason took a picture of one... weird.

Goat cheese and date palmiers, made with homemade puff pastry

Cupcakes:

Chocolate toffee cupcakes with caramel swiss meringue buttercream

Unicorn cupcakes with fondant decorations

Colourful cupcakes! A pilot friend purchased these to bring to a friend's engagement party in another city. I made horns and ears for them so she could decorate them like the unicorn cupcakes as well. Smiley

Black forest cupcakes, visible on the right side of this photo, at the "hot chocolate river" bar at my Willy Wonka movie night! Also in there are homemade marshmallows and chocolate chip cookies.

Cookie dough cupcakes, with a ball of cookie dough baked inside

Cakes!

Me with the cake I brought to my CBC audition. Chocolate cake with peanut butter mousse filling, chocolate ganache, and homemade peanut butter cups. I travelled for my audition and had baked in an unfamiliar and VERY hot kitchen where my ganache wouldn't set, so it wasn't as pretty as I would have liked it, but still tasted delicious.

Snickers cake for my brother's birthday (chocolate cake, nougat filling, salted caramel sauce/buttercream, ganache, salted peanuts)

Vanilla cake with buttercream, made for one of the guys in my Improv group

Charlotte cake (sponge cake with raspberry mousse) for my Mummo's birthday

Misc.

Scones made at my CBC audition. Everyone had a basic scone recipe and we got to choose our own flavours and add-ins. I made cardamom raisin scones with blueberry glaze and raw sugar sprinkled on top. They got a little overbaked in their fancy shmancy oven! Anyway, I have made scones so many times since then. They're so easy and so good! Sometimes I'll make them before work so I can have one with a cup of tea when I get to the office. Best breakfast ever!

Pulla, Finnish coffee bread. I'm on a trek to make this more of a signature item for me. I only have my Mummo's (grandmother's) very rough estimated recipe. I'll have to ask her to make it with me again one day to see what I'm missing. Smiley

Cherry & blueberry turnovers, using up my homemade puff pastry

Cream puff practice (Froot Loop, Earl Grey & lemon, and mocha blueberry), and brownies

Homemade cookie dough ice cream with hot fudge (homemade, of course!) and whipping cream. I bought a whipping cream dispenser at a thrift shop and it's so fun!

And on a crafty note, I don't think I ever posted my Pocket Letters for the swap earlier this year! Here are the two I sent out; heart themed and cityscape themed, featuring my hometown.

Phew! Here's to more crafting (and more baking Smiley) in the second half of the year! Speaking of baking... I just finished making a pan of nanaimo bars!

I didn't think to take many process photos, but let me tell you, I am never making tiny bunting ever again! Oof!

First I cut the blue backgrounds and coloured layovers on my Silhouette. I stamped the blue background with a chevron stamp, and sprayed them all with a bit of glitter mist. Glued on the chevron patterned paper and edged with gold marker. Cut out oodles of pics of myself by hand while watching a movie, and glued those on.

And... the bunting. My word. I started by cutting a TON of tiny diamonds on my Silhouette, and then folding and gluing each one around a piece of embroidery thread, in the same colour pattern for each card.

Then the bunting was attached with the little gemstone stickers, and hopefully none fell off in transit! I had a couple that didn't want to stick at first.

I received another fab pocket letter from Homerof2! Combining my themes of quotes and recipes.

Thank you! It's lovely! I love the little stunned guy on the top right, haha. Smiley

Gorgeous work, all! I love the kitties and the bright bohemian colours!

And I received a PL from Mandykaye today! It is absolutely fantastic. Multiple themes all smooshed into one PL! Mid century modern, cats, quotes, baking, and board games!

The wrap:

The letter! The top three are perfect as one of our kitties is black and enjoys my mid-century chair!

The back with goodies:

The back without goodies, still amazing, from old cookbook pages.

And last but not least, all the oodles of surprises washi tape, cupcake clip bookmarks, tiny clothespins, beautiful stamped epherma, game cards, delicious teas, and a beautiful handwritten letter!

Thank you so much for my very first PL, Mandykaye!

I have been crafting and baking like a madwoman lately, but haven't taken a ton of photos. I did my first BIG craft sale last weekend, and it went pretty well!

I made:

Bowls out of vinyl records (about 100 of 'em!)

Notebooks out of the album covers (about 80)

Necklaces out of Sculpey and cute settings (Not sure how many! Felt like lots Smiley)

BUTTONS!

Some of my favourites aren't showing here. My absolute favourite just had a quote from Christmas Vacation  "Hallelujah! Holy shit! Where's the Tylenol?"  Grin

I think I made more but there isn't currently photographic evidence! I'm doing another sale on Sunday, though I'll be doing mostly baking. I'm excited for that one, but already ready for a break!

18  Zany to the max! Yakko Warner & the Wheel of Morality (Animaniacs) in Halloween Costumes by fluffypants on: November 05, 2016 07:10:09 PM
My husband and I are always trying to come up with random pair costumes! We've been Calvin and Hobbes, Doc Brown and Marty McFly, the Keeners from Camp Cariboo...

This year we decided to go back to one of our childhood favourites and do costumes from the Animaniacs! We couldn't decide what pair of costumes to do, but randomly watching clips, for some reason we thought the Wheel of Morality would be hilarious. We decided on Yakko for me, and a sandwich board featuring the Wheel of Morality for him. He was being camera shy, so I couldn't get him to pose for pictures!

The "whiskers" are folded back in this picture, making them look uneven, but nonetheless...

The Wheel is built on top of a lazy susan so it would spin, not sure if this (incredibly short) video will work: https://www.facebook.com/mary.paulusma/videos/vb.642155483/10157641809790484/?type=3&theater

For Yakko, I bought the black shirt, but everything else was homemade. My feet and gloves were reused from my Hobbes costume a few years ago. I bought fleece and made a giant pair of brown pants and the belt, and made the buckle out of fun foam. The head was made from a plastic canvas frame, chair cushion foam, and fleece. I stuffed floral wire in each ear so they were poseable. It was a pretty fun costume but I had absolutely no field of vision! Next year, I think I'll stick with face paint. Smiley
