1  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: My first RL collage (img heavish) on: November 16, 2008 04:16:29 AM
First of all, I want to say that your work is amazing... And if you had any doubts about materials-what about trying to work with paper napkins... You know-you can get tons of different patterns and with some glue it should be done immediately Cheesy It remembered your work today while I was in the napkin section of the supermarket and saw these really rich dark red/brown/green/gray textures... Hope it all works out for you! Cheesy

I feel stupid enough replying to myself, but I hope that what I've justfound out could help someone else do this, too... So I think that this amigurumi cherry tutorial could help out A LOT, but I am to try it first.:
3  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Crocheted beads- oh, PLEASE help :) on: October 28, 2008 05:27:09 AM
Hello there!
I must say that I'm addicted to these cute beads I've been seeing everywhere and am desperate because I can't find anything on how to make them! Sure I could buy them, but the idea of mixing the colours and strands, sizes and patterns is joh-so-tempting... If anyone has the slightest clue about how to make them or where I could get more info, I will be grateful to you forever. Really Smiley
I've pasted some examples of these crocheted beads foundon etsy. The first ones is the most similar to what I had in my mind.

I know well that you're all probably fed up with my pics... But no, it's not your lucky day! Cheesy I found one more picture (of a sadly poor quality) which shows the apron that I sent to Demekah (folded) and on top of it (i know, it's really hard to see) there's a cup cozy like this one:
but in red-with the keychain thingy and an elastic band and everything...

The little orange hearts are at the ends of apron tie-up strings.
I promise, that's it! Cheesy

Has anyone else received yet? I'd love to see what you got!

It's actually stamped... I carved a stamp from an old rubber and stamped it on with acrylic paint and then ironed it over and over for ages Cheesy

hmmmm... what about everyone else?
I wanted to show a few things I've sent to Demekah, since she hasn't posted anything yet. I hope that she made some better photos and she would post them...
So, here it goes!
There are all things together, lacking the apron I sewed (which was inspired by this apron from Demekah's wists), but was made from one of the fabrics you can see below, printed in yellow-to-red strawberries and hemmed with red ruffled fabric. It looked cute and kind of housewifey-vintage... I hope that Demekah will find time to post pictures of it.
The rest of the stuff:

This is a polymer clay bracelet, with all sorts of strawberry cakes

This is a pair of strawberry earrings

A pair of strawberry hairclips and a felt strawberry cupcake keychain

A pin with a rainbow strawberry

Set of little soaps, of which the pin ones have a strawberry scent to them, the other ones are just for fun Smiley And a detail on the bigger soap: a darker heart in the middle! (I really loved this swap!)

Oh, and the goodies!

Well, I live somewhere, where I can't get packed icing or fondant... So I made them using the same technique I use for little sculptured animals, flowers, etc. I mix powdered sugar, egg whites and a few drops of lemon juice (not too much, just a FEW drops) and i mix it until I get kind of a clay consistency, so I can sculpt with it. This time I made little bals which I then squished into small circles. Then I put it in the oven (If I have time, I just leave it out during the night so they dry) to 50C with ventilation for about half an hour. Well, on the outside there's just regular whipped cream, on top (the flat surface on top) it's just the filling I used on the inside between the layers. It's actually kind of a cheesecake with lemon zest, raspberries and blueberries. I left out the fruit for the layer on top. And It's all made from scratch-nothing pre-made.
Uff, I didn't think I had so much to say  Grin
